Midsummer: The Movie

My Movie

Character, Setting, and Mood

To choose character markers Emilio and I read through the shortened story and found bits of the story that explained how the characters looked. For example the story takes place in Greece so I think that the characters would have darker skin because it’s warm in Greece and people spend a lot of time outside. For the setting the story mentioned that the characters were in a forest and it also mentioned that the story sets place in Athens. The story mostly sets place in the forest so I imagine that the mood would be quite whimsical so we put in some whimsically music in.

Core Competency Reflection

Working collectively-I can work effectively with Emilio and split up the work so that we each did our fair amount. We also worked out details together like the music and the slide order.

Evaluating and developing-I can personalize the video so that you can recognize that it was me and someone else who did it and we didn’t plagiarize anything.

Connecting and engaging with others-I can connect with other people to understand what their thought process is, to be able to work with them better.

Building relationships-I can build relationships more easily when I have been working with them and

Meal Planning assignment

Problem

There is a imaginary family that need a meal plan that works with all of their activities and gives everyone a chance to cook something.

Solution

Meatball recipe:

1 pound ground beef- 1 pound ground pork-½ cup Italian breadcrumbs- ⅓ cup milk- ¼ cup onion- ½ teaspoon garlic powder- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning- 1 egg- ¼ cup parsley- ¼ cup parmesan-salt and pepper

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  4. Bake 18-20 minutes or until cooked through.
Meatballs With Any Meat Recipe - NYT Cooking

Justification

On Monday we cut the meatball recipe in half because we thought that 12 servings of meatballs was too many to eat. We added the rice because meatballs by itself is quite a boring dinner. We did not cut the lasagna recipe because if they eat half of the lasagna on Tuesday they can eat the other half on Friday when Teen 1 has dinner at work. The rest of the week none of the recipes are cut.

I think that our plan will work because it fits in with all of the families activities and it is fair (no one works more than someone else.)

Collaboration reflection

We all collaborated in the planning of recipes. Everyone did their fair share with choosing the recipes. We talked a lot and we all contributed to the word document, where all of the information and notes were. We were all familiar to using edublog because we had previously done the “About Me” assignment. All the information we had was put into a word document that I used to complete this post. One person in our group was the one who typed everything that we discussed into a word document, one person helped double check our information, and I made the chart and chose the meatball recipe.

ABOUT ME

My bio

Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Gwendolyn, but I go by Gwen. My pronouns are she/her. When describing myself I would use words like, bubbly and fun, my friends would probably just call me energetic though. I like baking, hiking, martial arts, and helping people whenever I can.

I have a few goals at this moment in life, for example, I want to become a fit enough hiker to complete the West Coast Trail (a six day hike along the ocean on Vancouver island) when I’m fifteen. I want to continue my taekwondo until I can be experienced enough to achieve my black belt. And I want to donate blood when I am old enough.

I’m happy to be in the honours science and the honours math because I get to learn new things, move forward quicker, and have more time for other courses when I get into grade twelve. This year I’m really looking forward to doing the labs for grade nine and ten science because I like to do hands-on experiments.

Parody website

The Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus website inspires me to be mindful of what I read on the internet and in deciphering what is fake and what is real. This website also gives me a good laugh every time I read it.

Humming bird video

I chose the video true facts: the hummingbird warrior because I really like how the YouTuber zefrank1 teaches you natural history while adding a comical element to the videos. I find this video particularly interesting because he talks about the different types of beaks each bird has.

Inspiring quote

“I have not failed 700 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 700 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.” -Thomas A. Edison

Picture

I chose this picture of my dog because she is the best dog (in my opinion) and she always makes me feel happy when I am sad.
