Law Core Competency Reflection

Collaborating

I can take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share.

For the Dessert Island project, I worked with a partner to both write laws, and for the reflection piece. We collaborated together to write the laws, making sure that we both agreed with the system of how our island was going to run. We did an even amount of work each, dividing the work load to get things done more efficiently.

I can work with others to achieve a goal.

Both my partner and I were aiming for the extending range for our project mark. We made sure that our ideas were detailed and followed the criteria to ensure that we would achieve this goal. We also communicated when we thought a certain area was lacking.

Creative Thinking

I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others.

To create the system of laws for our island, we had to think creatively and organize the different roles we would assign. We collectively agreed on fair, just, and inclusive laws that would ensure that all the people of our island would have the resources and protections they would need to survive. We built on each others’ ideas to achieve a desired result that both parties were satisfied with.

Social Awareness & Responsibility

I can find it easy to be part of a group.

I was comfortable choosing to partake in a group project instead of an individual project as we were given a choice. I often like group projects as I believe I can divide work easily, and communicate effectively to maximize all group members’ abilities. I also believe that it is more effective than an individual project is, as it will motivate me to get things done on time as I am also responsible for another person.
