Japanese 11 Grammar Point Review

Self Reflection

What you did well and how you can improve your Japanese study habits?

This year in Japanese 12, I worked well in group projects, as it motivated me to do my share and work on a stricter timeline. To improve my study habits, I would definitely make sure I study every day. Whether that be 5 minutes reviewing flashcards or writing out notes to review grammar points, repetition would greatly help me in learning and remembering Japanese.

Core Competencies

Some long term goals I have for myself include being able to use conversational Japanese to help me get around when I visit Japan. Though I do not have a set date, Japan is one of the top places I want to travel to, and hopefully the Japanese that I have learnt in the past four years will somewhat help me get by.

Some skill I have developed to make my creative activities better is to make sure my presentations are visually appealing. I thoroughly enjoy graphic design, and by combining it with Japanese language learning, I can stay motivated, as it brings a sense of fun into it.

Before tests, I appreciate feedback on my sentence structures, and prefer when my mistakes are explained to me verbally. When I am confused on my mistakes, I often try to ask the teacher what I did wrong.

How will you continue your Japanese language acquisition over the year? If you could travel back in time, what study/language advice would you give yourself or others?

To continue my Japanese language acquisition past high school, I plan to keep engaging with Japanese media through anime, manga, and news. I also have Japanese family members which I can also practice my Japanese skills with, and clarify any further questions I may have.

If I could travel back in time, I would tell myself to create a study timeline to stay motivated. This would help maximize my language learning results, to ensure that I am not just memorizing vocab and grammar points, but actually learning it so that I will retain the information for the future.
