Capitol Mutation Collaborative Project

My Project

Public Speaking

So far in this semester, I’ve picked up on some very impactful public speaking skills. I learned about speaking to the room instead of just the teachers and working with my group to make sure everyone is prepared for the presentation on knowing when to speak so there are no awkward pauses. Something that makes a good speaker is someone who is, clear and slow with their words. A good speech is interesting and keeps you present with the topic. it should also allow you to reflect on the topic in your own life. A good audience member doesn’t need to enjoy the speech but needs to be present.

Collaborating Core Competency Reflection

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to have a clear and organized conversation periodically. this ensures everyone is on the same page. When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I listen to new ideas and views on different topics. I make an effort to include missing voices/ perspectives by going around periodically asking people and checking upon them. If I notice disagreements, that’s a sign that my group needs help and we can get support by resetting and referring resources such as the criteria sheet, rubric, or adults in the room. I can play a role in collectively monitoring the progress of the group and adjust my contributions as needed by doing daily check-ups and asking questions to my group members.
