Breakfast Hash

Making and Sharing Reflection

In my class, we learned about minimizing food waste. One of the main ways is to eat what we make. Part of this class is expanding our food pallet and trying new things is a really good strategy to minimize food waste. something else is we took certain amounts of certain things. For example, maybe we weren’t feeling that hungry so we only took so many potatoes to incorporate into our hash. Lastly, people who didn’t like certain parts of the hash didn’t eat that part so that everyone can have some and there can be zero waste.

Core Conpetency Reflection

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to have constant communication while we cook. Also, having conversations and asking questions before we start cooking are very important. While working in the kitchen, I help to build and extend understanding by trying new things and learning from others. I go in with an open mindset and am always ready to learn something new. I know the group is working well together when I hear/see people listening to each other in a respectful manner and paying attention to people. When people ask questions this also has an effect on the group. Something I am working on is showing I truly value people’s contributions, I can often have a blank face and need to work on letting people know they’re doing a good job and I appreciate their contribution.
