Squid Dissection
This is the squid I dissected in Biology 11. This is an image from my dissection. I dissected a male squidlet. This dissection taught me a lot. It taught me all the different parts of a squid, like its organs and insides. I also learned the functions of each part, which was super cool.
Communicating
During this squid dissection, I demonstrated strong communication skills by effectively sharing my opinions and observation with my friends around me. I shared with different textures, shapes, sizes, genders, and parts of each squid. I helped my table group out if they were unsure about a certain thing or part, or what or what not to cut. The reason I helped out was to make sure that the lab was successful for everyone. Doing all of this showed my ability to communicate and to work collaboratively in a scientific workplace.
Creative Thinking
In this lab, I demonstrated critical thinking skills by studying the squids inside and outside features, making points and connections with each part and feature of the squid. I answered the question perscriped to me to the best of my ability based on the evidence i was given while desiction the squid. Approching the lab this way helps me understand everything I needed to from the parts to the functions, showing my ability to make connections and think critically through the whole lab.
Personal/Social
In this lab I believed I showed my ability to work good and effectively with my lab group or table group when doing the dissection. I was actively pitching into discussion and talking over each step expressing how we feel weather it was excited, interested, or grossed out. I brought up and went over with the parts and function of the squid with my table group. We all shared responsibilities within the lab. This could of been cleaning helping someone if they had a question or assisting a classmate find something within the squids parts. Once dissection was over my group and I shared the responiblities to clean up after our selfs and make sure to dissenfect the table and tools after the lab. With doing all of these thing I demonstarted that I had strong personal/social skills. Since I had these skills during the lab this allowed me to collabroate seccessfully with my table group or classmates.
