Making and Sharing Reflection

One of the most important things in cooking is making sure you have a step by step process of how you are going to cook your item. In this case I was making a cake where if a step was left unfollowed so many things could flop with this cake. For example forgetting an ingredient like baking soda or power could leave your cakes texture wrong, or doing the steps out of order could mess up the entire cake. This is why we make sure we have a plan and everyone including yourself understands all parts of the recipe. Now when it comes to sharing the food this is very important too. Because everyone put their hard work into this cake everyone should get their proper share. We also need to take account if someone in our group isn’t eating maybe proportioning things differently and making sure we are only taking what we will eat is a key step. You also need to let your group know if you wont be they’re for your lab or if you don’t like or are allergic to the foods we cook. This will stop us from keeping food to going to waste. All these things are very key to consider when doing a lab just like this one so we can be sure that things run smoothly.

  • Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen when my group plans our jobs throughout the lab making sure everyone has a task and all tasks get completed
  • While working in the kitchen, I help to build and extend understanding by now feeling more comfortable and confident in my own kitchen and while cooking.
  • I know my group is working well together when I see everyone working hard on their assigned tasks with no distraction. I also know it went well when our final product ends up well and our kitchen is clean.

Making and Sharing Reflection

I used food materials in a way that minimized waste in different ways. I always made sure things that can be composted get composted and not put in the waste bin. I also made sure I was making the right portion as food for myself, so if I wasn’t very hungry that day I would have only taken one cookie. Later during lunch I still had three cookies left that I didn’t want so I offered them to my friends, this also gave me input on if they liked the cookies or not and how I did on my first lab. This will highly minimize the amount of food waste in my foods class.

When I am cooking in labs in class I am making sure I am sharing duties evenly with my group and partner and doing my part. When it came to clean up I made sure I worked quickly and efficiently with my group and got my assigned duty done as well too, for example dishwasher. Working individually for example being ingredient person I mad sure I was precise following directions because doing this job can affect me and my partners grade. I also work well on my own taking photos of my food a creating my blog.

  • Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen when we sit together as a group before we start our labs and plan out our roles and jobs during the lab.
  • The ways I communicate in the kitchen differ from the way I communicate in basketball because in the kitchen it is a very relaxed more quiet communication.
  • If the group is not productive we can remind others politely of their duties in order to get things moving in the right direction.

    For this goal I think I need to get a little bit for comfortable with people in the class so when I’m in a group with people I don’t so well I won’t struggle communicating with them.
