Personally, I see technology as a coping mechanism. It’s a distraction; a way to briefly escape. I used to use technology solely to keep my mind off of things I found stressful. But ever since the pandemic started, I started to use it a lot more, as it provided entertainment.
During quarantine, I found myself going back to technology to keep myself updated with what was going on around the world. Knowing what was going on made me feel secure; less stressed, if that makes any sense.
A lot of my stress used to come from school. But with everything that has gone on with the pandemic, I’ve felt less stressful. With the quarter system, only taking two classes at a time feels like it’s giving me less work, and more time. It’s as if everything kind of slowed down.
With all the time I’ve had on my hands, I have tried to use technology to organize a calendar. By marking homework deadlines on my phone, I’ll have a rough idea for when I should start working on it. I also use my phone for music, which can help pass the time when I do my homework.
So this year, I feel like technology helped lower my stress level.
