Core Competencies Reflection
During this assignment, I used communication skills when I was talking with my partner trying to get information and an understanding of the assignment. Thinking skills, when I had to form the assignment into a poster on a website. I used my thinking skills to find websites for information and picture and titles for imagery when designing the poster. I developed my communication skills during this project by understanding and sharing information about the author that my partner and I chose.
Curricular Competencies Reflection
I learned a lot more about the indigenous author Eden Robinson. She is the author of Son of a Trickster, her first book, Traplines (1996), is a collection of three short stories and a novella (a short novel). she is a Canadian novelist and short story writer. She has been a Writer-in-Residence at the Whitehorse Public Library, and works with the Writers in Electronic Residence program, which links schools across the country with professional writers. By making this project and learning about the author, I learned about Eden Robinson writings and herself. I was even able to read some of her text/message which helped my understanding of tricksters and her novels. She talks about tricksters and how they have an effect on life.
Creative thinking
Through this project I’ve grown on my creative skills by making a relevant poster and my listening/ viewing skills by researching and engaging effort. By learning more about indigenous issues, I’ve taken another step towards reconciliation and encourage others to continue to learn. Overall, I’ve expanded on my creative thinking. I am able to create and design projects with meaningful and thoughtful ideas behind them. I analyze evidence and make decisions on what to add or not to my projects. I am able to see what is important or not.
