My Tribute Costume

My Tribute Costume – Fresh Paint

Whenever people tell me to describe myself, I never know exactly what to say. I’m no superstar athlete or fabulous singer; just an average girl who’s in her freshman year of high school. The first few characteristics that come to mind when describing myself would be empathetic, responsible, and sensitive. At first glance, you see this this tall girl that plays contact sports while in reality, I wear my heart on my sleeve and feel quite small majority of the time. I play box lacrosse as my main sport, but one of my favourite sports would be swimming. I love how freeing it feels whilst you’re gliding through the cool, blue water. Another thing I love to do is paint. It’s really your own world when you pick up the paint brush. If I were to sum myself up in one word, I would choose Simplicity. That one word can mean many different things; everyone has their own definitions and opinions. I’m nothing over the top, but I’m also not too basic. I’m in a good place where I know who I am, and no one can change that about myself.

Reflection

For my visual representation of my tribute costume, I used the app “Fresh Paint” which is kind of like the program “Paint”, but a bit more modernized or realistic. Coming up with ideas wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. After writing the paragraph, I picked out key points, such as simplicity and the colour blue. I searched up some images of dresses for ideas and combined a few for my final product. I really like the simplicity of the dress and the whole feel of it. Next time I would spend more time making my paragraph stronger or more in depth. I had a somewhat difficult ideas on things to talk about while writing it. I learned I was more artistic than I thought for the drawing portion for the project.

Reflection

I knew that the information was reliable because it all came from the Canadian Encyclopedia which has the authors, publication dates, updates, etc. Some of my other resources I used to check over my work were some of the worksheets and packages Mrs. Mattson gave us in class. I decided to use Canva as my medium. I’ve used it in the past so I knew what I was doing when I was designing it. I have pictures for every subject and I thought it looked visibly pleasing. In the future, I would’ve liked to spend more time perfecting my work and refining everything so it could be the best it can be.

Reflection

Finding the information wasn’t too difficult. Most websites include the same details about raincoats in different wording, so I knew I was getting reliable material. I started with the ’50 years later’ topic first then went to the very beginning of the invention. Trying to think of ideas in the beginning was rather difficult, but as time went on, I got inspired by pictures drew a design. In the future, I would start sooner so I could have more time to refine my work and not feel as rushed.
