Life Saving Measures

There were a few details that I had kind of forgotten, much to my surprise. I could somewhat remember the fundamentals of performing 30 compressions, but I couldn’t remember how many rescue breaths. 2, 3, or 5 was it? Did it actually matter, too? I too had no idea how important an AED was and thought it was simple to use. Learning that an AED significantly improves chance of survival was good information to have in mind. Finally, when the firefighter talked about personal experiences, the significance of knowing how to perform CPR on a person struck me. Therefore my 3 take aways are being able to perform compressions and rescue breaths correctly, the importance of an AED, and the importance of knowing this “survival” tool. I initially thought this class was just a bother, but I now enjoy that I feel competent to help in an emergency. CPR is simple to learn and can be studied in person or online. Although I hope I never need to, I am aware that I could.

I can analyze evidence to make judgments. If a person appears unconscious with no pulse, I now the steps to demonstrate CPR on them.
