Lab 19C

#CommunicationCC

I want to focus on the collaboration of this lab. This image shows the heating of my lab partner and I’s solutions which formed precipitates (the solids which look sparkly!) My lab partner and I communicated throughout the lab from the beginning when setting up to the final cleanup. An example of our communication was when we measured out the solutions. I handled measuring out the Pb(NO3)2 while my lab partner handled the KI measurements. This made doing the lab very efficient while also having no mix-ups because we checked each other’s test tubes to ensure they were measured correctly. When heating the test tubes we needed to stir the contents however this wasn’t easy with two people so one of us mixed while the other recorded data and watched the temperature.

If I were to do this lab again I would use multiple beakers to heat the test tubes so I can see their qualities more clearly as it was difficult to see if the ppt. With one beaker I had to remove the test tubes to observe to rid the yellow reflection of the other test tubes. Removing the test tube also reduces the temperature. Adding another beaker would also make stirring easier as you cannot use the rubber clamp to hold smaller tests tubes by themselves let alone multiple.
