Titration

A titration is a neutralization between a solution with a known concentration and a solution with a unknown concentration. A titration is used to figure out the unknow concentration. In this lab we used a titration to discover the concentration of the HCl used. The end point of a titration is a when a neutralization reaction in complete. We know when this has happened because of the indicator used which is commonly phenolphthalein changes the color of the solution. We know that it is complete when the solution is the lightest of that color it can be and the color stays past 30 seconds. My result were that the concentration of the HCl used was 0.1M.

Communication

My partner and I had to communicate this lab so that we could save time. This lab can be very long so my partner and I communicated as we worked so that we could split up task while keeping track of what was done. We further communicated when at the end of class we still didn’t have a clear result, so that we could come in during cent time to retry the lab.

Creative Thinking

I took this photo for the black and white photo recreation. The problem was that the background didn’t match the original and much as I wanted. There was almost no tree branches and it was letting in way too much light. to solve this I learned new photoshop tools and added in some tree branches and bushes to cover up some of the light.

Core Competencies

I made a cushion for my footstool but when I glued the stool together it was not square. Since the stool was not square the plywood for the cushion wouldn’t fit as a square. To fix this I had to trace the plywood under my stool, and then I cut the plywood on the bandsaw. I cut a bit too much on the bandsaw so I sanded down the rest until the plywood fit with just enough space for my fabric.

CPR Reflection

In this unit something new I learned was the post Covid-19 version of CPR. I hadn’t thought about how Covid might affect first aid before. The biggest takeaway for me was that I want to work on the physical aspect of CPR because if I ever need to do CPR for a really long time I don’t know how long I would be able to go before getting too tired. This unit goes with the nutrition unit because diets can be a big cause if someone does end up needing CPR.

Core Competency Reflection

  • I work with others to achieve a goal.  – I worked with my partner so that we could both do our best.
  • I persevere with challenging tasks and take ownership of my goals, learning behavior. – I continued CPR until it was done which was challenging for me.
  • I am kind to others, and support others when they need it. – I reminded my partner of things they needed to do.
  • I demonstrate respectful, inclusive behaviour. – I demonstrated this when we were sharing the AEDs.
  • I ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. – This is my goal because I think I could answer more questions in class.

About Me

My Bio

My name is Genevieve. I am a grade nine at centennial. I really enjoy Science, and the course I struggle with the most is English. They both also happen to be my current courses. I think that I work best by myself but I also enjoy group projects. I like to go bike riding when I have the time. I’m interested in painting and think that I’m pretty good at it. My favorite sport is horse riding.

My favorite Website

Youtube is very useful for

  • entertainment
  • learning something new
  • inspiration
  • whatever you can find on there.

I use it mostly for guidance in something I’m unsure of or to learn something new, and entertainment.

My Favorite Video

This is my favorite video because it teaches you while entertaining you. I also like it because it teaches porch pirates a lesson.

This is a link to a video of someone engineering a prank and punishment for porch pirates.
