John Paul Jones

John Paul Jones | Biography, Achievements, & Facts ...

Name: John Paul Jones

Time pierid: John Paul Jones was born on July the 6th, 1747 and died July 18th 1792 at the age of 45.

Role:  John Paul Jones was an American naval commander.  John Paul Jones now to be Known as (JPJ) was born in Scotland and would like there until 1775 when he moved Virginia and joined the Newley formed continental navy. He would do many task’s for the new continental navy Around America Including escorts and the transportation of solders and ammunition. His most notable achievements however come when he was in the Irish sea where he continually raided merchant vessels and costal towns well avoiding capture the whole time. The battle that he actually went after a British sloop failed the first time due to bad timing, but the second it kind of work but they sustained a lot more damage than I think they would have wanted.

Legacy: John Paul jones was an extremely good naval commander and basically at points a pirate hired by the Americans.

Fun fact: he landed in Denmark to seek refuge after a fight with the British but his flag was destroyed so off a description of the American flag he had he made one and Denmark entered it as the official American flag.

Name: Horatio Gates

Time pierid: Horatio was born July 26, 1727 and passed away April 10, 1806

Role: on his day a very good general on the American side. He won the very important battle of Saratoga which was a huge loss for the British because if general Howe would have just stuck to the plan and met up with general Burgoyne things would have looked a lot better for the British. And after that needed victory he became a rival of Washington even getting picked over Washington’s suggestion to fight in the battle of Camden. He promptly got his butt toughly kicked but that’s beside the point.

Legacy: he took an extremely important victory for the Americans in the revolutionary war.

Fun Fact: In many famous depictions Horatio his head looks like humpy dumpty.

Role: He was a British commander that because of his one ego potentially lost Britain the war. He became known in the British army for his role in the capture of Quebec in 1759. And when he was stationed in New York in 1777 the British hatched a plan to cut of norther America with a pincer maneuver and was supposed to meet general Burgoyne in the middle but he abandoned that plan and whet for all out personal glory and captured Philadelphia but at the same time leaving Burgoyne to be defeated and captured by the Americans. At the same time giving the Americans one of there biggest victories of the war.

Legacy: He was a British commander that in the end cared more about his ego than anything else.

Fun Fact: As soon as he captured Philadelphia and Burgoyne was defeated he was called back to Brittan and was fired.

Burgoyne

Name: John Burgoyne

Time Pierid: He was born the 24th February 1722 and passed away the 4th of August 1792.

Role: He was a tactical genius on the battle flied.  He first fought for Britain in 1762 in the 7 years war but his most notable achievement came in the American revolutionary war because he came up with the plan to cut of the New England with him coming down from the south and general Howe coming up from the south. In my opinion that would have worked to but general Howe didn’t sike to the plan so eventually Burgoyne’s was eventually surrounded and his entire army (6200 Men) was forced to surrender a massive loss for the British.

Legacy: a tactical genius and one of the best assets on the British side of the war. He devised the plan that could have been the down fall of the Americans.

Fun Fact: He sat in the House of commons for 31 years 1761 to 1792

Category: Battle of Brandywine Creek

Name: The Battle of Brandy Wine Creek

Time pierid: The battle of Brandy Wine Creek was fought on September 11, 1777.

Role: More troops fought at Brandy Wine Creek Than any other battle in the American revolution. The initial battle started at Chadds’s Ford Pennsylvania but as the British forces headed north east to take Philadelphia, they moved there troops in such a way that they force the American troops to withdraw to the city and then eventually all the way to Philadelphia where the battle of Brandy Wine Creek Occurs. The Battle of Brandy Wine Creek lasted 11 hours and in that time the Americans lost 250 of there men but another 1000 where injured or captured when the British only lost 93. The British won the battle but in winning the battle they left general Burgoyne out to dry because the forces that captured Philadelphia where suppose to meet general Burgoyne up north to cut of the New England colony’s so in taking Philadelphia general Howe possibly lost the British the war.

Legacy: A big win for the British but the general that gave the order to take Philadelphia at the same time gave the British there biggest loss of the war so I will call it the battle that should never have been.

Fun Fact: There Where Three commanders on the British side and 8 on the American side and they still lost.

Using the software reflection (Media Fluency)   How was the ease of access in building your flipbook, despite this being the free and limited version of the software? I didnot use flipbook.
Were you able to apply the skills you learned in the planning stages appropriately to a digital environment? I dident use flipbook i used word because it was a soft ware that i was allready comfortabul with.
What were the sources you researched that made this an “authentic make-believe” American Revolution flipbook? I mostly used wikipidia.
Is there other software online that could have done the job better? Did you use another software instead? Explain.  I used word because I felt that my information could be better relayed on word than flipbook.
