I thought the presentations where extremely helpful especially in the current state that our world is in, with the amount of overdoses that occur day to day. The part that will really stick with me is what to do if someone is having an overdose or heart attack because in most scenarios when something like that happens most people would panic and not know what to do so when you have a naloxone on hand or know exactly how to tell if someone is having a heart attack or overdose I think that could save a lot of lives even if its just having a naloxone on hand when you need it. Another part of the presentations that I learned was the how many people actually overdose a day, its about 7 a day, and a lot fo the time is isn’t even a choice. the last piece of info that really shocked me was the fact that the overdose crisis has been an national emergency for 7 years. Overall I think these presentations were very useful and will be life ling skills that you can use whenever.

I can analyze evidence to make judgements: I can analyze information and make hypothesis and judgments based on common sense, some in school ones would be like in science and making educated guesses on experiments, but in real life just being able to read the room and having street smarts.

Enzyme Unit Lab

This enzyme lab one of my favorite labs we did it was very hands on and also working with our partners was also very fun. In the pictures above you can see just a few ways we used our hands as enzymes and demonstrated different ways an enzyme can become denatured as well as the effects that it has on their abilities to lock in. In the first photo the “enzyme” had no restrictions and was free the lock in however it wants, that is when there was the highest amount of toothpicks picked up. In the next photo you can see there was a rubber glove and many elastic bands wrapped around our hand which acted as denaturing characteristics and in this test there were no toothpicks picked up. For the last one we did temperature denaturing which was more than the rubber bands but still less than having no inhibitor. Overall, this was a very fun and easy way for me to understand how the denaturation of enzymes effects their ability to work and do their job.

I think the writing assignment of the story of Romeo and Juliet went quite well. art the start we where struggling a little I would say just understanding how the reflexive rules worked, but by the end the sentences where flowing well and the only really mistakes we made where just vocabulary and grammar, but I really enjoyed seeing how our writing has progressed and how it has improved.

Social Awareness and Responsibility

I choose social awareness and responsibility for my core competency in Spanish, because I feel like it plays a big role in a lot of assignments we do in Spanish. Almost all of the group work we do is making conversations and that can be a difficult task especially when you are learning a new concept in Spanish, so I think it is very important for everyone in the group to be socially responsible and help out with the assignment so everyone in the group is contributing equally. It is also very helpful for learning when having socially responsible group members as they can help you understand a new concept if you don’t understand it, and it make the work a lot more enjoyable when everyone is working together.

What’s the Word Around Town- Whistler

Reflection

a. I was easily able to identify how the geography impacts the town in a couple of ways. I was able to identify those ways by using all my notes from previous classes, I also researched on the internet some of the information I used, and finally I have been there a couple times so that helped me understand more about the community especially the economy aspect.

b. I built my project using the backwards design by started with quite broad ideas and created point forms for the information I was going to use in my descriptions. While dreaming of the future I would say it definitely helped me better when I understood more about the physical features and the activities already there. Overall, I was quite happy with the economic activities I thought of for the future especially the fancy restaurant on top of Alpine Mountain.

c. I was very happy with the overall result of my project, I was pleased with all of my pictures, information, icons, and I also colour coded the different categories the make it more organized.

d. I would refine my project differently in the future by trying to put less bullets but besides that I was overall quite satisfied with the end result.

P.E. 9- Wellness

The dimensions of wellness that could be improved for me are physical and financial, the steps I will take to improve in these areas are:

PHYSICAL – more sleep, better time manegment, and eating healthier .

FINANCIAL – ask my parents for advice, start practicing now (saving, budgeting, etc….)

My visual representation is innovative because I didn’t just do writing photo, writing photo, I switched them around a lot and I even changed the lettering type and I changed some of the coloring of the letters to make it match more, like for the shark poem I switched the lettering to blue to allow it to match the photo more. I generated my ideas in the project by looking at examples of other projects that are similar, and I also did what I thought would work and I played around with everything until I was happy and felt like it was up to my standard. To be honest I love everything about my visual presentation I think everything goes together, it’s not cluttered, and I think the photos I chose added a lot. One thing I think I could do better for next time it trying a little bit more advanced formatting, because I was going to do a really unique format but it wasn’t working out, so instead of trying to make it work I just switched it to something easy, so next time I would like to try out more difficult formats. What I learned from this process was that it actually kind of hard to find animal poems with personifications in them, I really learned the difference between simile and metaphor, and finally that I really enjoy making poems.

BIRTHDAY HISTORY 

5) My birthday is one February 25th and one thing that happened on my birthday in 1944 is the U.S. forces destroyed 135 Japanese planes in Marianas and Guam. Why I chose this event is because it just shows how far we have come from 1944 like we are not at war and more now I know some countries are, but we are all working on world peace.

Speech unit Reflection

  1. One thing that I learned from this unit that I would use again is, the way Mr. Penk taught us to structure our speeches. Why I chose this is because I found this method to be helpful and easy to put my thoughts together in a way that I understood and hopefully my classmates as well.
  2. I chose the Destiny discover work cited tool because this tool was the one that the teachers explained the best and it was easy for my to navigate and transfer my information in and out of.
  3. I found that the websites were the most helpful for my research because the topic that I chose mostly contained information that was useful in a variety of websites. I didn’t use books and database sites because there were no books available on my topic and database sites did not contain information that was useful.
  4. One thing I think I can do to improve my research skills is try and to look for multiple websites for information instead of just using 1 or 2 websites.
