My Digital Footprint

Introduction

A digital footprint refers to how you represent yourself in your own community through the internet and media. In this post, you’ll be looking at some of the ways a digital footprint can affect your future, your relationships, and yourself.

Summary

Many people decide to google themselves whether it’s for the laughs or just for fun. But were you ever surprised of the results? Did you find yourself on the internet? Have you ever thought of what that can lead to? I’ve googled myself for this assignment and I haven’t found anything so unexpected or surprising. The only thing that has popped up were a few of my Instagram accounts, but that’s basically it. I decided to also go through some other platforms like youtube, my mom’s Facebook, etc. My parents do have photos of me, expanding my digital footprint but their accounts are private which is good to know.

One of the things I’ve wanted to share and reflect on for one of the five C’s is one of my Instagram accounts; my art account. I use this account to share what I am passionate about. In this case, drawing or painting. I connect with other artists to collaborate with different ideas to see each other grow. This contributes to the online community. Specifically, the art community. It’s a public account where others can view what I like to do. If you’re wondering why it’s not private, it’s because I don’t share my personal life on there. I have other accounts to do so.

Using my art account as an example, this could affect my future in many ways. Positive or negative, it can affect my future education. It would maybe help me pursue what I want to do in school as an artist. This could affect my family friends, mostly in a positive way. They get to see where I am through my hobby to continue to support me of what I can do with my artistic abilities!

Love Poetry Anthology

Reflection

For my poetry anthology, I chose the theme “love.” Specifically, the dark ends to it and how it can make us feel. For my visual representation, I had some photos downloaded to match each poem and decided to use a simple design template for this project. When choosing my poems, I decided to use a few poetry books that I have by a poet named ‘Lang Leav.’ But of course, I couldn’t use the same poet for all my poems. Using keywords such as ‘heartbreak,’ and ‘love,’ I found a few poems describing what love feels like to them or how they feel afterwards when love dies. The thing that I enjoyed for the creative part of the project was the little writeups like the introduction and choosing a poem that says a lot about the theme. Because of that, I had the freedom to say what I feel or what I can express through strong emotions. Something that can stick with me or something to keep in mind is proofreading. I had to repost a couple of times realizing I had a few mistakes in my writing. Another thing I could’ve done was to plan what kind of poems I was to use or where to search instead of spending three days looking for poems. It was difficult because there were poems that were either way too explicit, and some were even quotes. Lastly, I enjoyed looking deeper into the music I like. Those songs I chose, I didn’t know much of and found it interesting to see what kinds of artists have to say about how love can make you feel; miserable and heartsick.

Cheek Cell Lab

In yesterday’s lab, we took a look at our own cheek cells. In order for this process to happen, we had a few materials like toothpicks, a microscope of course, methylene blue to dye the cells so it will be more visible, and we also learned how to apply a cover slip on the slide. Once we got our materials and everything sorted out, we took a look through the microscope at different powers. First at low power, then medium which was perfect to look through because the nuclei were visible and the cells were crystal clear. When we turned it to high power, the cells as were’t visible anymore so I couldn’t get a picture of them. But besides that, I was able to identify the cell membranes, surrounding the cells, the nuclei which is the small dark blue dots, and the cytoplasm surrounding the nuclei. As you can see, there are other cheek cells scattered around which are known to be dead cheek cells.

Overall, I enjoyed yesterday’s lab. It was an opportunity to get more in depth about microscopes and how to use them. Plus it was a refresher from what I already know about microscopes. I also had fun working with my classmates and my partner, building connections, and discussing what we know about cells as well.

Speech unit Reflection

In our speech unit for English this term, we found ways to research for reliable sources, strategies to properly cite our information, and ways to present our data in front of the class.

I have taken away many things from this unit that I’ll be able to use within the future such as introductions to hook your audience, body language, and how to create an appropriate debate format.

For resources, I sometimes found it difficult to find the things I need. To make it easier, I looked at different articles or even story articles to build off of my original thoughts to ideas and examples for my topic. I used websites that are based off of what other people think of my topic to support my ideas. During my research, I decided to look at websites to help my debate and a few reminders to be aware of while presenting which I thought was helpful.

Things I can improve on, or things that I will do different during the research process and presentation process, are to find ways to edit what I’m going to say (because sometimes less is more.) I can try to encourage myself using sources such as books, and I could prepare and use my time to generate more questions for my debate.

About me

“May the petals teach me the art of letting go.”

-Xan Oku

As you grow, you change. Things change, and people change. And sometimes you just need to accept it even if you don’t like the thought of it just like a flower. This quote reminds me that I should be grateful for what I have at the moment. Every single moment, memory, and person are apart of your life. But sometimes it changes things and those things may not be there anymore. And it changes you. I chose this quote to remind myself that sometimes its good to let go of what you have. And it’s part of learning who you are and exploring as you grow.

My Favourite Youtube Video

The reason why I chose this video was because scary short stories are great and one of my favourites especially this channel. But I chose this one specifically because it has a simple storyline, yet its creepy. I can make connections with the character because of how they are passionate about art and drawing. Not only that, it’s portrayed in a short horror story which made more interesting for me to watch.

Picture that I chose

This is a photo that I chose from my camera that I took in the Philippines. It’s one of my favourite photos that I took but its not the main reason why I chose it. Why I really chose it was because it held a lot of memories to a place I don’t often go to. Especially to see my other relatives, and learn more about my background since I was born here in Canada. Looking at this picture brings back that feeling of nostalgia and memories that I shall drag on with me.

My favourite website

https://www.pinterest.ca

One of my favourite sites beside youtube is Pinterest. The reason why I chose it is because when it comes to art, it has great inspiration and images to help me build off ideas from. It’s simple and easy to use to find what you’re really looking for.
