The Lonely Land: Poetry in Voice Relfection

My Poem

Curricular Competency Reflection

a.) As I was searching through Poetry In Voice I noticed the title of the poem I chose. “The Lonely Land” The consonance of the letters pulled me in and the simple title was intriguing. The poem met the requirements, over twenty-five lines and in the Grade 12 section. Something as simple as the explanation of the details of settings you find in a forest was something I found peaceful.

b.) The activity where we acted out the actions in our poem really helped. Every time when I read my poem I imagined how to act out each line of my poem. The actions help you memorize the poem because when you read it over and over again the actions get stuck in your head memorizing it. I could have added these actions in my presentation and I think I will when I go to redo the poem.

c.) Outside of class, I paid attention to transitions between different parts of my presentation to maintain a smooth flow, I practiced in front of friends and family to gain experience in presenting and I searched up the poem to see how others presented it. Many other performances were monotone and boring but this helped me to realize I had exceed that.

d.) The paragraph helped because I could write on what I was presenting. I had an idea what the poem was about but putting my ideas on paper definitely helped. It gave me a better understanding on how to present and how to adjust my tone for specific points.

Core Competency Reflection

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by giving details on others poems. In discussions I added to other poems by suggesting things that others may have not seen.

I can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my own work; evidence of that is I study every night because I know when I get the chance to improve my poem I will to the best ability I can and to redo the test we did today. The test does not have to do with the poem but, it is a competency I can use to further my learning.

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I always re-think what I am doing and what I need to do to get on track. If I need to get exercise I do so, then return to the task at hand. If I need to boost my mood I will do something I enjoy as a quick break then return to the assignment.

Life Saving Measures

The three takeaways out of these two classes:

1.) Not to panic and leave the person helpless

2.) Learning how dangerous overdosing is and how to use the naloxone kit works. How to use it when someone is in danger, and the precautions to look out for when using it. Example(dangers around the person)

3.) When to use the AED and the pulses behind it. If the person doesn’t have a pulse you should use it. Where to place the pads and how the shock works with the machine.

Learning these things are super important due to the amount of overdoses and other problematic things that go on in our city. To know these things are important because it’s a real life situation that you can come across in your life.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competencies

I can analyze and make judgements based on my learning. I did this by paying attention to both presentations and making judgements when something is given in front of me as information

Marko Andjelic

Huberman Lab #96 Reflection

1.) I feel like I am more of introspective person because I can zone out everything and focus on myself. This means I tend to follow my inner throughts making it harder to live outside of my mind. Also, I dont like to rely on others when doing a task. If I can complete it by myself with complete focus I will do that. If I don’t know something I will find myself struggiling more to get the answer by myself then asking someone.

2.) The mediataion I would do to grow is short meditation. I would do short meditation to focus on myself and how I would block out my inner thoughts to focus on something else.

3.) I think the breathing that would be most beneficial for me is a technique where I have to focus on the levels of my breathing. Paying attention to how you breathe is important and I think if I carefully focus on the pattern of the breathing I will block out my thoughts, thinking for myself.

4.) When about to do mediation you should know what you want to do already and what you want the outcome to be. If you are stressed before a test you probably want to breathe in a way that will calm you down. If you are tired and more calm maybe you need to breathe in a way that makes you more aware and awake. The breathing that would help before a test is where you focus on the exhale not a lot on the inhale. A small inhale with a long exhale would be the best way to calm down before a test.

Power Tech 10

In Power Tech 10 Mr.Kent thought us how engines work and how to fix bikes. He carefully went through demos with video examples and him walking our class throught it. If something was not explained properly he would show us physically and help us understand. Recently since the weather has been nice and Ive had to bring out the lawnmower to cut the grass in my backyard. Something was up with the engine and my dad thought we would have to take it in and get it fixed but, instead I took the front hub off and fixed it. I used my critical thinking skils here.

Edublog Tritration (Lab 20C)

Artifact

During this lab I found one highlight that I was proud of was to lead a group of three to success. It only took me three trails to finish the lab.

Explanation (Communication)

My ideas were represented on this platform and while working with my peers. The lab was made clear with my partner and we knew what the end goal had to be and what objectives we had to do to get there. Everyone had different notes making the lab harder to do but, I showed my idea to combine all of the notes together to leave no space for mistakes. In order to do this I had to share my information and communicate with my team/group. I took the leadership role in doing most of the lab and focusing my group towards key points of the lab.

Tritration is a method used in labs to measure a certain amount of concentration of two or more substances, the volume of the substances are also found in the process of tritration. One substance is usually unknown. We used tritration in this lab when we needed to determine the concentration of the hydrochloric acid. The end point of this lab was shown by the indicactor. Which was the phenolphthalein going to a very light pink color that would last for 30 seconds. The color wouldnt be too dark but it would be almost transparent that you could see a slight tint of pink. The end point was when both trials were close to color and the slight tint of pink was our final color. This was at the end of the tritration. We finished our lab in three trials. The final concentration of the lab was 0.926 M HCl.

My Bio

Hi, my name is Marko, I’m fourteen and this is all about me.  I play multiple sports which are soccer, basketball and during the wintertime I love heading up to any mountain to ski. My favorite sport is soccer because my dad influenced me since I was very young.  I have improved so much in the past year which will help me achieve my goals to get on higher level teams.

Recently I have started skateboarding; I would say I have progressed very well in the past few months. It’s a fun hobby and I enjoy it very much. My favorite part about skateboarding is going out with my friends late at night and feeling the wind running through your hair. It such a great feeling.

Music plays a giant role in my life. Every time I do something that I feel like music is needed I pull out my phone and put my headphones out. While writing this I was listening to music even when it comes to small things like doing the dishes, I put my playlist on. Music is a big part in my life.
