Math 12 Self Assessment

I feel like I progressed through this course by asking questions and coming in for flex for extra help so that I can satisfy myself with a good mark. Stuff I need to work on next semester is to stop procrastinating.

goals I set was to get an A in this course which I achieved. Strategies I did was studying a bit at home so that I can do good on the tests and do my homework. An example is me studying extra hard and asking my dad for help .

one thing I improved on in this semester is focusing a lot more to the lessons so that I can understand it a lot better.

Draft Self Assignment End of Semester

one assignment that was pretty challenging at some times was the duplex project.it is very important that I was asking questions to the teacher, and some people that were sitting beside me, so that I could finish the part that I was stuck on or else I wouldn’t have known how to do it. I did pretty well on making the duplex although, at some times there was stuff I screwed up on but I eventually fixed it within a few tries. I took ownership of my goals and learning when I was driven to get things done to make me feel accomplished in the end, so that my project can look good and I was satisfied with it.

  • I can ask and respond to simple, direct questions
  • I can build the skills i need to make a project work even if it takes a few tries
  • I can take ownership of my goals, and learning

Drafting and Design 12

one assignment that i am proud of is the r2d2 assignment on Auto Cad. i am proud of this assignment because i was communicating my drafting skills for example the dimensioning on the assignment it was pretty good because I communicated the all the important ones so that the person can fully understand the drawing. Also, i had the drawings all lined up with all 3 viewings of it. My design skills were good because it looked like r2d2 and it was clear, it wasnt messy. something i would do different next time is to focus more on the ratio size because i didnt do what i was supposed to do in the assignment i had a weird ratio size.

  • I can present information in a way that is clear and organized (Communicating)
  • i can build the skills i need to make a project work even if it takes a few tries (Thinking)
  • i can show if i like something or not (Thinking)

Core Competencies Goals

If there is a disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to quiet everyone down and start by talking to one person at a time and listen to their opinions one at a time and once everyone is done we all come to an agreement by taking each others ideas and coming to a final decision. one time this has happened me to last year in Physics 11 class we were in a project where we were building a pasta car and we were deciding what would be good for the car to go down the ramp the furthest and we were arguing a lot so we calmed down and listened to each other and we contributed every ones idea and then we came up with a plan to make it work really well. Also, we looked up on google for ideas which also worked.

I know the group is working well together when I hear/ see people communicating to other people about ideas that people have, when pencils are writing on paper, people are asking for help from the teacher, from other groups and no one is arguing to each other. One time in Math 9 i had a group assignment where it was me and three other people. we all had specific roles/questions to figure out and one of our group member had help so we all came together and solved the question together. There was no arguing, every thing flowed smoothly within our group because we were not shy to each other we talked right away and we were the fist group to be done.

How do you learn best? I learn best by getting help from other people when they show how to do it slowly and an easy way to do it. Also, I learn good by visual learning, sometimes when people tell me stuff/ make me learn something and they tell me face to face I wouldn’t understand it that well. but when they show me of them doing a problem it makes a lot more sense. Also, I have to really study and study the stuff I’m learning to understand it, I have to do practice questions because if I don’t then I wont get it.

i was challenged by this from using different machines that i have never used before and also different types of skills/joints that look nice which, i got to do/experience.

i think i was pretty successful in achieving my goal because i think my project looks nice with a nice fusion design on top, i did all of the steps/tutorial on time. also, i was hardworking in the class which made me achieve my goal on time.

something i would do differently that would benefit me would be for me to work more independently because if i ask less and less questions over the time it would benefit me into a more confident woodworker, and it would make me trust myself even more.

if this outcome was a failure i would pay more attention to steps, i would ask for help when needed, i would go in at lunch or tutorial if im falling behind and obviously have some passion into what im doing.

some skills i learned through out this class was the ability to know how to house wire and learned new skills and how to house wire more efficiently and effectively. also, how to code a bit/build/ understand the idea of how a robotic car works and the ability to make it do different things.

something that went well for me was the ability to het things done in a timed matter, and the ability for me to use my time well.

something i would do different is asking a bit less questions because sometimes i asked questions i know the answer to but i still call for help, so in the future i should be more independent and trust myself

Is Water Wet?

Questioning and investigating:critical and reflective thinking

I think water is wet since it has water molecules and it makes things wet therefore water is wet

Water molecules touching an object which then makes other things wet ( sitting on top of an object and once it’s dries it’s not there any more (deductive).

Also water is wet since water is a liquid Which flows easily because it’s viscosity is low. (Deductive)

a counter example would be surface of water is not wet ; we can’t know whether water is wet unless you touch it or put an object in it. (Deductive)

overall I think water is wet because of the statements I said And it makes things wet so water is wet .

Reflection

A) When i was trying to find my problem, it was not the easiest, but not the hardest because when I kept researching the problems of basket ball, it didn’t really tell me what I wanted, and about the problem of basketball pretty much the history of basketball, and the original 13 rules, so it gave me an idea to talk about the rules, and how’s there are too many rules.

B) When I was thinking about my innovation from 25 years from now I thought about how I wanted to look before I thought of solutions because I knew some stuff about basketball, so I thought what basketball is right now, and I thought of different ways on how to fix it.

C) Yes I was because it changed the game type/format, I thought it would be cool if I did that, and let people play the new type of format of basketball, and different types of rules, would maybe make it more fun for other people.

D) I would refine it by, having more details for the future of the game, and could add more solutions for the game, to make it better in the future,
