Personal/Social Competency Reflection

I know that my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences, including preventing my future goals. Now in todays society people have access to just searching you up on google and knowing everything about you. This may apply to jobs you want to get or post secondary education. In these scenarios your employer or teacher may decide to look at you social media to see what you are like as a person. This could potentially effect if you get the job or get into the school you want.

Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include taking breaks now and then. Sometimes being online can get overwhelming and you might make a bad decision that can’t be erased. Once in a while it’s good to take a day offline, spend time with family, go outside and do something you enjoy whether it is a hobby or a fun activity. I think it is a good strategy because you realize you don’t need to post everything you do on social media.

By being friendly online, I make a positive difference to my peers. This is a simple act that can be something that could change somebodies day and it is so easy to do. It could be messaging an old friend, leaving a kind comment or even just playing games with your friends. Its just being kind and friendly that could make a positive impact on your peers.
