Connecting Media and Psychological Disorder Mind Map

  1. “I can also build on the ideas of others” I demonstrated this when i used the lyrics from the song and expended on them to be able to connect then to psychological perspectives.
  2. “I can explain when something is unfair and advocate for others” I showed this when i used my mind map to bring awareness to the overlooked disorder.
  3. “I can analyze evidence to make judgements” I used this when i analyzed the lyrics of the song and made choices on which perspectives to use.

Residential School Survivor Reflection

I used the thinking competency when listening to Carrie Speak about her story. I remember feeling incredibly sad when she told us some of things she has been through. Something that she told us that had me really interested was when she felt the women picking the babies and hear the song and on finding out later it was Chickadee song. I was sad when she told us about the cruel treatment, she got from the dentists that were students. I also was interested in how she felt when she went to the graveyard in Kamloops where they found a bunch of kids. I had a good learning experience with her and I am glad she came to teach us more about her experience surviving a residential school.

Stock Market:  Self Assessment

Stock vs Bond

a. When you buy stocks you’re buying a part of the company and when you get bonds you’re giving the company a loan.

b. Stocks have a higher return

Risk

a. The bigger the risk The bigger return you might get back and the risk is smaller you get less money returned back.

b. You can diversify your portfolio and that would take some of the risk away because if one company  goes broke you still have other stuff.

Balance

a. A well balance portfolio means to have a combination of stocks and bonds.

b.It means to buy and sell your investments when needed to reduce the risk when the market crashes

Core Competency Assessment

1.I had to look up some things but most of the information i used was from what i learned in class.I used all the information i learned in class to help me make a decision on how i feel about stocks and bonds

2.Investing is now something i find a lot more approachable. After our lesson in class i learned a lot more things about stocks and bonds. I think in the future ill definitely invest in stocks knowing how it works better.

3.I always thought stocks were super useless and it was people just wasting their money. Now i understand why they spend their money on it and how rich they can get.

metal thingy

I chose to do this reflection on my vase project. In mr.Peterson art metal class we learn how to create ideas and bring them to life using all different types of metals and materials. My design for this project consisted of  heart shaped ballon flying away.  I think i was successful at achieving my goal because my vision came to life. I think if i had to do something different i would’ve made the “string” of my balloon longer to match the size of the heart more. Maybe i would’ve made my heart out of a different materials like a rod instead of chain if i wasn’t successful. Im proud of how my welds turned out since it was my first time doing them on a project. My favourite machine i used for this project is the MIG welder just because its so easy to learn and do and my least favourite was brazing because it takes so long to do.

Core Competency Goals

Creative thinking prompts

One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is thinking of new ideas about how to be rich

Personal Awareness and Responsibility Prompts

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I take a break from whatever i’m doing and have a snack or take a nap

Social Awareness and Responsibility Prompts

Some of the ways I work to build and maintain relationships are always making time for them and making sure they feel appreciated

Linear and Non-Linear Equations

Linear Equations

x=4

This is a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it forms a straight line. I can tell from the equation because x has a degree of 1.

y-3=4(x+1)

This is a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it forms a straight line. I can tell from the equation because the highest exponent is 1.

Non-Linear Equations

y=-2(x-4)^2

This is a nonlinear equation. I can tell from the graph because it forms a parabola. I can tell from the equation because its highest exponent is 2.

y=√x

This is a nonlinear equation. I can tell from the graph because it forms a non straight line. I can tell from the equation because there are square roots.

Self-Assessment

I explored mathematical ideas using technology when I was graphing the equations on Desmos.

I analyzed data and used criteria to draw conclusions when I was checking if the equations were lienar or non-linear.

I justified my conclusions with evidence when I looked at graph and equations.

cpr reflection

something i didnt know before we did this unit is to check for hazards before you start chest compressions. the key takeaway this unit for me was how easy and how a few steps it can take to save someones live and help at least. this unit connects to our nutrition unit because depending on your diet and what you eat it can increase or decrease your chances of a having a heart attack

core competency reflection

I find it easy to be part of groups. I showed this when we had to work in big groups because we only had 2 working aeds

I can identify my strengths and identify my potential. I showed this when we were playing volleyball and i would always ask to  be in the back row because i know im better there then in the front

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. I showed this when we did our diet presentation even though i didn’t talk i organized the slides.

I am kind to others, and support others when they need it. I show this when my friends they didnt do good in a game and i always support them and help them get better if needed

I ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. This is my goal because i keep getting unfocused during class and i get too nervous to ask questions during class

Choose Your Own Adventure: The roads are loud

Max and I created this choose your own adventure story for our english class. The story doesn’t really have a theme

Communication Reflection

Describe what your project is about and how to use it. What program did you use to create your design?

Our project is about twins boys that time travelled in a museum and to use it you just pick what option you want. We used twine

How did you communicate with one another? How did you listen to one another’s ideas and provide one another feedback?

We would say an idea and the other person would give feedback and make it better together

What were your responsibilities in the group and how did you make sure each member contributed to the design?

Max would write the story out and i would add the pictures and sounds but he did everything by him self

How well did you work as a group? Did you use time efficiently together?

iI think we work well together but we could have been more productive during class

How were decisions made? Did you face any problems—if yes, how did you solve them?

If one of us didn’t like the others idea we would just find a mid point where we both liked it . No we didnt have any problems

Were you satisfied with the final product? How could you improve on this process for next time?

I like how the project came out and I think next time i would add more options and pictures
