Year-End Music Concert
Curricular Competencies Reflection
This year, I was able to perform my clarinet techniques and improve playing higher notes. Compared to last year, there were more students participating in band which made the room fulfill with instrumental sounds. In my opinion, the last music, “Klezmer Karnival” was the hardest music we’ve played in this course. Especially for this music, I had to practice a little more than usual for me to able to play. I’ve started playing clarinet since grade 6. Although I have been playing clarinet for about 5 years, I still struggle locating my mouth onto the mouthpiece. I need to improve placing my mouth in a correct location to make a better and stronger sound. In addition, this is my last year in junior concert band. It is time for me to say goodbye to my junior class and move on to Senior concert band. I am very excited to play with older students with longer music. To make this possible, I am going to start practicing daily so I don’t get lost in the middle of the practice.
Core Competency Reflection
During this performance, I demonstrated the core competency through collaborating. I showed this skill during the group audition and performance. As a member of Lukas, Edward and couple others, we practiced every week on Wednesday during tutorials. Some of our members decided to meet and practice over weekends. Throughout this performance, I was able to demonstrate my core competency skills. Including communication, collaboration, and thinking… I was able to contribute well in this group project and showed our best during the actual performance.
