Connecting Media and Psychological Disorder Mind Map Reflection

  1. I can tell what is important to me and I can explain my values. I did this mind map project with something that is very important to me and I explained some of the points of my life and how I view life through this project.
  2. I understand how my values shape my choices. I made the choice to do this topic for my project, because of my values. It is something that no one can take away from me as it was a life saver for me, and I showed by choosing this as my topic.
  3. I can represent my learning and tell how it connects to my experiences. I made this mind map basing it off my own experiences with mental health issues, and what I have learned throughout my life, as from this I have gained wisdom, joy and peace like how I have written down on the map.

Core Competency Self-Reflection: Pre-Calculus 12

Option 3 – Personal Awareness and Responsibility

The images that I have put on this edublog are my notes and problems that I have been trying. I have been writing my own notes for every single lesson since unit 1 but I didn’t have the best results from it. So I started to read the notes on the textbook and really trying almost all the problems in the workbook until I fully understood the concept. I even got someone I know who is good at math to tutor me in some of the concepts that I didn’t understand and ever since, I have had good results in the tests. Through this, I have learned that if I really just try harder in studying, I can get good marks and that it wasn’t that I didn’t understand the concept, but that I wasn’t studying hard enough or putting in enough effort. Going forward with not just math, but all the courses that are more difficult I will be making studying habits to succeed in the courses.

Leadership Core Competency Edublog Reflection

One leadership quality that I possess is that I am caring. No matter who you are, a neighbour or an enemy, I still care about them. I would not leave a person or dislike a person if they are struggling with something and will help them with care and love. A leadership skill that I possess, I think is that I am good at motivating people. Even if someone is feeling down or having a hard time to start on something because they feel a certain way about it, I can give them confidence and sureness with honesty. A quality I would like to develop during this course, is being more initiative. I am a very good follower, however I struggle to initiate things if I don’t have a 100 perecent certainty. I get worried about failing or not working out, but I would like to be a better at intiating something and being a true leader. A skill I would like to develop during this course, is social skills. Even though I can motivate people and help people, I still have trouble talking to new people, or starting up a conversation with a new person. That is something I would like to get good at and be good at approaching people.

I can encourage others to share their voice and value diverse perspectives.

I actually enjoy having debates/conversations about other perspectives and really enjoy hearing the other point of views. I do believe that it is important to hear everyone and to understand where they are coming from, and I think the way the views are very different depending on the culture, childhood etc., is really interesting.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

Dichotomous Key

I can work with others to achieve a goal

I demonstrated the core competency I have listed, by communicating, cooperating and working with a partner to figure a way to organize all of the buttons we were given. We struggled for the first couple minutes, but we quickly got back on track.

Identity

My Poem

Core Competency Reflection

  • I can understand and share information about a topic in a clear, organized way. I was able to share my thoughts about identity as well as the information I have learned through out my life about identity.
  • I can represent my learning and tell how it connects to my experiences. I wrote the things I have learned in school, in society etc. and connected it to my own thoughts.
  • I can recognize the different points of view and disagree respectfully. I wrote about this in the poem because I thought that people struggled to understand differences as I know that you don’t have to fight someone just because you disagree.
  • I can encourage others to share their voices and value diverse perspectives. I have my own perspective on topics and expect others to do as well. I enjoy having conversation with a person who has a different view than me and respect what they have to say even if I disagree.

Social Studies 10 Reflection

Anything You Want

Socials Reflection

Self Reflection

  1. I think this project showcases my creative thinking skills
  2. 3 – Thinking
  3. I like how the poster planned out and the mark on it was good
  4. I learned how they used to advertise for people to join the wars with posters like the one I have created

Core Competency Reflection

  1. I work with others to achieve a goal

I participated well in group projects and most of the times was focused the whole time, responding to questions and asking questions to keep the conversation going and the group I was in were mostly successful with the conversation. I worked with the partner of my choice to get group assignments done and they mostly had great results.

2. I can tell what is important to me and I can explain my values

I know and keep my priorities straight. My opinions or my values don’t change very easily because I value my own opinions. Also when it comes to doing school projects, I will have those be the priorities in my life as long as there isn’t something criminally important. I value my priorities and know how important it is to have priorities in life.

3. I can analyze my own beliefs and consider views that do not fit with them

I enjoy talking about beliefs with other people. It could make some people mad but most of the times I probably won’t change beliefs in anyway. I respect every human being, their views and their thoughts, however it won’t change my belief. So instead of it really being “consider views that do not fit with them,” I would be more like “respect views that do not fit with them”. I believe that it is good to have beliefs and have your own opinions on things.

4. I can explain when something is unfair and advocate for others

Even though I am very strong about my own beliefs and opinions, if I feel that something is wrong, I will try to fight it. Like most people, I don’t like things that are unfair just because it is unfair, they don’t have a reason why they are treated differently. If a group member is saying stuff that isn’t very respectful I will explain to them about their statements.

One goal I have for myself going forward – I can ask open-ended questions to gather informations

I think I really need to improve on asking questions if I am not sure of something. I get afraid to ask questions to teachers, even if I don’t understand anything and it ends up being me trying to figure things out myself, which ultimately ends up with me messing up the assignment. I need to ask more questions when unsure instead of trying everything myself.

My Future Career

My Future Career

For my future career, I want to be a professional baseball player. To get to this career, I need to work on my skills as a baseball player and do everything I can to get my name out onto social media or organizations that show prospects from Canada to the scouts in the states for post secondary education and play. To get to the schools I want to go to, I need a high GPA and is better to prepare for a SAT just in case. I want to go a school in the United States that has Division 1 NCAA baseball, and for me to do that instead of really focusing on what high school courses I need to take, I need to focus more on keeping my grades and GPA high. I of course am going to take biology and more, because if the plan I am hoping for doesn’t work out, I want to be a physical therapist, or be included in a job that takes care of athletes or work with athletes. Therefore my focus in high school is keeping my GPA as high as possible.

Core Competency

I can reflect on thinking – I chose this topic because I think this class has made me think more about all kinds of things more than I did before. I get to learn from before by reflecting instead of worrying about it forever.

I can tell the difference between facts and opinion – I picked this topic because I like facts. I believe that facts are always better even if it is a criticism because I believe that you can learn more from the truth and the facts and lies, however I know that opinions can be more hurtful to people instead of helping them, and not just in criticism or compliments, opinions are not as valuable as facts unless there isn’t a fact.

I can ask open-ended questions to gather information – I chose this because with this class, I realized the importance of asking questions. Especially asking open-ended questions can lead to better conversations and can lead to more opinions if you are talking about an opinion based topic.

I can analyze evidence to make judgments – I want to work on this topic because I am not very good at making judgements. I can collect evidence but if I don’t have 100 percent greenlight or sureness, I get worried about making the judgements which I really dislike about myself. I think I did get better at making the judgement and decisions with my own evidence, but I do think this is a area I can still work on.

Favourite Recipe

Chicken Tenders and Caesar Salad

Making and Sharing Reflection

Making – Identify and use appropriate tools, technologies, materials, and processes for production.

Unlike the regular chicken tenders you find in stores or restaurants, instead of frying them, we used breadcrumbs and put the in the oven which makes the chicken tenders just as good but healthier. Like the chicken tenders, we baked the croutons in the oven to make it nice and crispy. Used a knife, a small jar and measuring spoons to make the homemade salad dressing and the salad.

Sharing – Assess their ability to work effectively both as individuals and collaboratively.

My partner and I work very well as a team but also well alone too. We communicated to choose which part of the recipe we can work alone or work as a team to be more efficient. I worked mostly with the dressing and the chicken tenders while my partner worked on the croutons and the salad. We finished the recipe fast and had great end results.

Core Competency Reflection

Communication Prompts – As an active listener, I notice that I,

Can work well with most people in any classrooms. I respect other’s opinions and thoughts when cooking and can come to agreements really easily. If the person has lots of ideas and is a person that likes to talk a lot and communicate, I listen and respond to what they say or ask, however if it is someone who is more quiet like I am, I can be more talkative and be the leader for my partner or group members. My communications with who ever I was working with has always been great, and we were always able to finish in time and was left with some extra time for what ever we wanted to do.

Collaboration Prompts – I Know the group is working well together when I see,

That the result is exactly what we wanted or the process is going smoothly without having to talk too much while cooking. Even though the results may not be what we wanted if the recipe is difficult, but we won’t completely be disappointed in the results because we know we did our best and most of the time, the results will be decent at least because of the communications that took place during the process.

3rd – The way I communicate while cooking differ from how I communicate at,

Baseball. When I am playing sports I feel that I am having a lot of fun. I enjoy pressure when it comes to sports, and in the kitchen I hate it. I dislike the pressure of finishing on time and having good results at the end. I am not as loud in the kitchen as I am when playing baseball and I just don’t talk as much. I feel that I don’t do extra and only do exactly what is asked in the kitchen, but in baseball I always try to find something to be extra in.
