Show and Tell Presentation Reflection and Self-Assessment

Curricular Response

I think the greatest strength of my presentation was the fact that I was able to present and speak fluently without having a script with me. When I was preparing my presentation, I decided that my presentation would go smoother if I didn’t read off a script and it did go very well. The next time I do a show and tell presentation, I think I would change the layout of my presentation to make it look more visually appearing to the audience.

Core competency Self-Assessment

When our teacher suggested the show and tell project, I immediately thought of my favourite psychological horror film, Midsommar. Since I already watched the film, I already knew most of the basics and just had to do a little bit more of research and I learnt a lot of hidden/new meanings in the film. I used multiple websites and rewatched clips of the film to collect relevant information. There were many blogs about the film and their theories, so it was very interesting to read other peoples ideas and build on them.

Core competency self-assessment

I am proud of the pig dissection lab we did in our Anatomy class. We had to dissect the fetal pigs digestive tract with a partner using teamwork and good communication. I can take on roles and responsibilities in a group by splitting up the work, such as my partner assisting me when I cut open the pig, and I assist her when she opens the pig. We split up the chores by communication, and it worked out fairly well.

I can form new ideas to create new things, and build on the ideas of others. Near the end of our dissection, we had to take out its digestive tract from the body with no directions, so we had to generate our own way of taking the digestive tract out without disturbing rest of its body. We successfully took the tract out, and uncoiled the intestines to measure its length. We built upon our peers ideas by looking at how they took theirs out, and building up on that idea.

I can participate in classroom or group activities that improve the class, school, or community. Over the course of time, our class did a good job of helping each other out when we were struggling, so we could exceed together. When we all had to do our oral test, we made sure to tell each other how to find the harder/hidden organs of our pig.
