Show and Tell Presentation Reflection and Self- Assessment

Curricular response

I think the greatest strengths of my presentation were keeping peoples attention, organization, and speaking. I decided to keep peoples attention by constantly switching the media types (ex. 1 slide-music video- 2 slides- song- question- 1 slide) I find that this style keeps students engaged throughout the presentation. For organization I spent a lot of time researching and putting it into a brief bullet point format then speaking about it in more detail. I find that speaking without a script and from your memory makes the presentation more engaging and more like a conversation with the class rather than a presentation.
If I were to do this project again I would have not procrastinated. I procrastinated having it done until the week of and it made it very stressful, especially with it being finals week. I would have rather used the class time more wisely so id have most done without needing to work on it at home.

Core Competency self assessment

I decided to go with punk music because its something I have a lot of knowledge about. I have been listening to punk music since I was very young since my dad listens to it. I started listening to it on my own when I was around 13 and started learning about the culture around it. Now I’ve gone to a few underground punk shows and some at bigger venues and have been involved in the punk community for a few years.
I decided to collaborate the experience and knowledge that I had with sites that I found on punk culture and music. Most of the history aspect was researched since I didn’t know much about that but a lot of the rest was my knowledge from years of experience in punk music. I also have a lot of friends who share punk values and love the music so I asked for their opinion as well.

Imagery write

The sun sets darkening the howling sky, the mountains and trees shadow its pastels as hostile and heavy wind blows my scarf in never ending waves as I sit on the rough spring grass. The ocean crashes against the haunting shore as if in a constant battles between water and land. Wolves howl and owls hoot to the freshly appearing moon as the deer and elk settle for rest in their land of the mountain where rock and grass meet in patches of grey and green. The moist ocean air caresses my lips and brushes my nose giving me a waft of floral scents and freshly cut grass,  Numbing all other senses, And in that moment, for the first time in my life, I feel complete.

I learned about things such as the Maitee which I didn’t know about before this class. I also learned lots about indigenous myths and stories from the stories we read. I grew in my communication core competency by being able to communicate my ideas in a more clear and direct way.

My project

Core competency reflection

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include doing research from a reliable source, checking in to make sure I am doing everything correctly, and making significant progress each class.

I am clear on the difference between simple “group work” and collaboration as evidenced by difference of presentation style, organization, and punctuality.

My goal is to make ethical choices such as completing work on time in order to have good grades. To complete this goal I will have better time management skills.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I take a short break on what I am working on. This helps me re-focus so I don’t get very frustrated and helps me make my work better quality.

When I am sad, angry, or frustrated taking a break or going on a short walk if possible helps me be more productive or calm.

Some short/long term goals for myself include doing better on tests in the future and my plan to achieve them is studying in better ways over a longer period of times.

my math goal for the future is to get through this course with a high grade.

My CLE experience

An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is how to budget responsibly. This will definitely help me in later life and I am very glad I learned about this. I have also thought a lot about what job I might want when I’m older, I am still trying to figure that out but I think this class has given me a larger knowledge of what it’s really like in the workforce.

I am curious about what I could do in the workforce and I am excited to learn more about how I could help out in whatever job I choose to make it even better.

My writing

Core competency reflection

One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is closing my eyes and just thinking about the setting of the story or poem I am writing. I like to think about the senses: what does it smell like, what does it look like, how does it make me feel, and so on. I feel like this can enhance my writing by just putting myself into the story for a second.

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I usually take a short walk since it helps my focus and boosts my mood, but sometimes this is not possible. If I can’t take a walk I will usually listen to music, change my focus onto some other work, or take a short break. I find that when I do this it improves the quality of my work and helps me complete it faster since I can think better afterwards.

This is how I select images and words to create impact for different audiences: for images I find things that I really like or my friends really like and I find a nice in between if all of ours so it will appeal to hopefully most people. For writing I just read and then from the books that I read I find things like words and writing styles I really like and try to combine them to my own writing and I write about things I am passionate about because the writing is always better when you like what you’re writing about.

Drama 10

I have decided to reflect on my communication in this class. In drama 10, by communicating with my classmates I have been able to improve my work habits and make new friends along the way. By the way some of my past drama assignments/projects have gone I realized I needed to change my ways, and so I did, and because of that my grades improved in this and also other classes.

My identity scaling project

To accurately scale my identity I put how much percentage I thought I was and then calculated it all to make sure it equaled 100%. To make the percentages accurate on the body I divided the body into different shapes which were all rectangles, squares, and circles and then I would calculate the area of each shape by using the formulas A=lxw for rectangles and squares and A= πr 2 for circles. After I calculated the area I added everything together and calculated what percent of that number each thing was to get the correct amount. I would recommend only using rectangles and circles and possibly triangles for this project because they are the easiest to calculate area for.
