Core Competency Reflection

This drawing is relate to the condition of the relief camp that  caused by the Canada depression on the thirties. At that time, The federal government decided to create working camps to deal with the growing number of jobless, homeless men. The men worked on building roads, cleaning land, planted trees in return for room, board, medical care and 20 cents a day. (they were paid 1/10 of what an employed labourer would making doing the same work). The condition of the camps are were so bad, the food was lousy, there are no sheets, just blanket and you have nothing to do except working for eight hours a day. They become a focal point for men’s anger then evolve into The On-to-Ottawa Trek. Overly harsh conditions in the camp led to a rebellion.  Perhaps a slight adjustment to the quality of life in the camp could have avoided the rebellion.  Those men were also willing to keep working, as a buffer against the Great Depression in Canada.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

In this chapter, we have learned about energy transform. Energy is transformed in chemical reactions, I have drew a picture of the life balance to prove organism’s relationship, between cellular respiration and photosynthesis are what they adapted for and essential for their survival. Photosynthesis (chemical equation: 6CO2+ 6H2O) add solar energy can produce glucose and oxygen (C6H12O6+6O2)and it is necessary to human ‘s respiration, then our respiration produce carbon dioxide (6CO2) and reabsorbed by trees and produce Photosynthesis. It can be seen that this is a cycle, which proves how wonderful nature is, and we and nature are interdependent and connected.

Linear and Non-Linear Equations

Linear Equations, Non-Linear Equations, Self-Assessment

  1. y=2^{x}

This is not a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because is it not a straight line. I can tell from the equation, because it is not f(x)=mx+b equation.

2. x^{2}+y^{2}=16

This is not a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because is it not a straight line. I can tell from the equation, because it is not f(x)=mx+b equation.

3. y= {1}/{3}x-2

This is a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because is it a straight line. I can tell from the equation, because it is a f(x)=mx+b equation.

4. y-3=4(x+1)

This is a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because is it a straight line. I can tell from the equation, because it is a f(x)=mx+b equation.

Self-Assessment:

I explored mathematical ideas using technology when I have to found out that whether the equation is a linear equation or a non-linear equation. I analyzed data and used criteria to draw conclusions when I use DESMOS and look at the graphic is a straight line or not. I justified my conclusions with evidence when I found out that the equation is matched with my answers.
