Collaborating
I show that I value feedback from others in my group by acknowleding their point of views and building off their ideas. During the pig dissection lab my group and I navigated through our roles and responsibilities smoothly, using open communication and sharing ideas seamlessly. There were few misunderstandings like where was each organ and where to cut. I recognize the need for even clearer communication in future collaborations to enhance efficiency and our overall understanding.
Critical and Reflective Thinking
I use evidence to make judgements or decisions as demonstrated in the pig dissection lab. During this lab we had to label certain interior and exterior parts of a fetal pig and it was incredible hard to pick out which organ was which. Therefore, I had to look through diagrams and information that we had not yet learned, and we figured out the anatomy of the fetal pig, demonstrating the importance of evidence-based decision-making in successfully completing the complex lab.
Social Awareness and Responsibility
By doing this lab in a respectful manner, staying focussed and doing my best work in the classroom, I make a positive difference to my peers. During this lab it was extremely difficult to stay on task and do what was asked and we had very little time to complete this and without efficient work the lab would be impossible to complete. Through diligent work, I set a standard for excellence, encouraging my classmates to stay engaged and committed. By doing my best, I created a collaborative spirit that enhanced the overall learning atmosphere and made a lasting impact on my peers.
This is an image of a fully dissected fetal pig and you are able to see multiple organs. This relates to my core competencies as they are about this lab that I completed along with my peers. Some of the skills I aquired was the use of a scapel to cut skin and also being able to label certain parts. I would like to be able to dissect other animals as it is a fun but intricate procedure, but with more accuracy next time. It was very interesting to see the different organs as a fetal pig is very similar to the humans organs as well as the digestive tract.
