Meal planning assignment

problem

This family is having trouble deciding who should cook and what they should cook for dinner throughout the week . The family is also trying to work around everyones schedules .

solution

 MondayTuesdayWednesdayThursdayFriday
MealBeef and Spinach lasagna Vegetable pad ThaiBlack beans tacoChickpea cauliflower currySpaghetti and meatballs
Family member Parent ATeen 1Teen 2 Parent BParent B
Time6:30pm7:00pm6:30pm6:15pm7:30pm
Portion ½ Portion 1 Portion 2 Portions ½ Portion1 Portion

justification

-We made it, so dinner was between 6-8 each night because that is the time that clashes with the family’s schedules the least.

-Every family member cooks at least once a week, so cooking is distributed fairly

-Parent B cooks twice a week because they have the lease busiest schedule

-Monday will work because parent A gets home at 4:30 on Mondays which leaves time to cook the beef and spinach lasagna (which takes 80 minutes to cook) by 6:30, when everyone will be home.

– Tuesday works because teen 1 gets off school at 3:30, which gives them enough time to Vegetable pad Thai. The meal will be ready for 7:00pm which is suitable for ever one’s schedule because teen 2 leaves for soccer practice at 6:30. Even if teen 2 is late vegetable Thai is still good cold and can be warmed.

-Wednesday will work because it is the easiest meal-so teen 2 can cook it-and a double portion is perfect so that way everyone can have extra on that night

-Thursday will work because parent B will be cooking chickpea cauliflower curry, they get off work at 5:30 and the food will be made by 6:15. They will be enough time for them to make the meal and for everyone to get home. One portion is the perfect amount for this meal.

– Friday will work because it leaves a little time for parent B to relax before cooking and it will be everyone (other than teen 1) to be at home before they eat. We still left the portion at 4 servings so that it could be eaten by one of the family members the next day.

collaboration reflection

I was away the whole project so I communicated through texting and snapchat to see what we where doing and how to do it . My group and I used technology to communicate and to look up new recipes. The tasks where distributed pretty equally but with me and another group member away it was harder to fully equalize the work. I couldn’t do much from home but I helped a bit with the planning as it was difficult to get on my laptop as my family would also need to use it .
