My Artifact

During this CPR unit, I learned about the causes and symptoms of having a heart attack and stroke, and what to do if someone is choking or unconscious. As well as the differences between heart attacks, strokes, and cardiac arrests. A key takeaway from the CPR unit is knowing how to do CPR and potentially knowing how to save a life, which is not only significant for me but the people around me. The CPR unit connects to the nutrition unit by educating on our health, knowing what foods to help our heart and body, and things that are dangerous for our health. My artifact shows a person doing compressions on someone, I picked it because this is what we learned during this unit.

Core Competency Reflection

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way- If there was someone who was struggling I try my best to help them out. If the teacher asked me a question I made sure to answer it the best way I could so that they knew my understanding of the topic.

I can identify my strengths and identify my potential- When I was practicing I knew what to work on and what my strengths were which helped me get better overall.

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy, I take pride in my work and myself- When I did something that I worked hard in I was always proud of myself and shared it with others, for example, figuring out how to do CPR.

I can ask open-ended questions to gather information- Whenever I was confused about a topic I always asked questions to make sure I understood it.

A goal I want to work on is my public speaking and presentation skills.

I inquire into and present on topics of interest and topics related to my studies- I want to work on this because I need to be more comfortable with public speaking, to achieve this goal I’m going to practice and public speak more, and ask questions on what I need to work on.
