I used 2 circles for the iris of my eye because they are a circular shape in real life. I used a parabola for my chin and some of my jaw because I have a round chin. I used two ellipses for my ears because my ear have a round oblong shape. I thought a hyperbola would be a good idea to use for my neck because it curves inwards then out. I couldn’t think of a better way to create my hair because it is curly so I used parabolas and translated them a few times right and left to create hair strands. I made my nose using 2 parabolas for the bridge, 2 half circles for the nostrils, and another half circle for the tip of my nose. I used only parabolas for my mouth because it has many curved lines. My eyebrows were made using a mixture of parabolas and straight lines to create a curve shape. My eye shape was made using a parabola and a straight horizontal line. I believe I went above proficient in the apply mathematical ideas using technology section by shading in my eyes and mouth to make it look more realistic and by using sliders to be able to move certain functions exactly to where I wanted them.

Lab 19C Core Competency

I can collaborate with others to complete a task. I usually struggle to work with others on group assignments but during this lab I was able to split up the work evenly within my partnership and work together to complete the lab. My partner filled and added specific amounts of solution to our test tubes. I then heated those test tubes in water and recorded the temperature at which the precipitate dissolved. This shows how me and my partner were able to work together and complete this lab efficiently.

Drafting and Design 12

In this assignment we used features in fusion that I had never used before. I had to follow instructions and a video tutorial to create this maze puzzle. We used the feature emboss to wrap the design around the circumference of the cylinder and we used thread to close and open the cap. It was slightly difficult to figure out these new features but after watching the person do it a few times I was able to understand it.

  • I can experiment with different ways of doing things
  • I can explore materials and actions
  • I can identify criteria that I can use to analyze evidence

LIfe Saving Measures

I learned that you can get a noloxone kit from any pharmacy and that they are accessible by everyone. People dying from drug overdoses are the leading cause of deaths in BC. I also learned about how to identify if someone is overdosing by checking their skin tone and causing a pain reaction to see if they wake up. Knowing how to obtain a noloxone kit and how to use it could possibly save someone’s life in a serious situation. Even if I wasn’t comfortable using the kit it is important that I still have it on me because someone else might be able to use it and save someone’s life. It is advised that everyone should pick up a kit and have it in their car, backpack, or home in case of an emergency.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection

I can analyze evidence to make judgements. I can analyze the data that was given about the overdose deaths and make the decision to get a kit and encourage others to get a kit. These deaths are very preventable and it doesn’t take much effort to go down to your local pharmacy and grab one.

Core Competency Goals

I need to show that I value my group member’s contributions. I sometimes try to control everything and do everything myself instead of taking other ideas into account. This year I will work on letting everyone in my group have input on the project.

I need to remain open minded as I explore viable options or alternate approaches. I can keep focusing on how I got something wrong and find it hard to think of different approaches I could have taken. I will work on keeping an open mind when tackling difficult problems.

I need to work on not being afraid to ask questions when I am struggling with something. I can sometimes feel I shouldn’t ask questions because of pride, which is not a good thing when trying to learn new and complex concepts.

Chemistry Core Competency

I can work with others to achieve a goal. My partner for this lab was Tony, we both agreed to do different jobs to collect the data efficiently and correctly. I measured the base and added it slowly to the acid. Tony measured the acid and transferred it to the flask. I can persevere over time to develop my ideas, and I expect setbacks and failure, but use that to develop my ideas. We continued getting vastly different results so we must have been measuring something wrong, so we took our time and did it properly to eventually get two results which were close enough to find the average. This was very difficult because we did not know what we were doing wrong but we had to persevere. I can analyze evidence to make judgements. I used the data and evidence that we collected during the lab to answer some questions relating to the data. I have been practicing these types of questions so I understood what the questions were asking and how to answer them.

Adam Ito Spanish 11 Core Competancy R&J Script

I am not proud of the mark I received on this assignment. I got 2/3 on the transitional phrases, 3/4 on the script, and 4/8 on the verbs. We did not put prefixes in front of the verbs, which was our biggest mistake. I have learned from my mistakes and will do better in my next assignment. Building off of mistakes is important instead of feeling bad and not making any progress.

A skit about bullying in a school cafeteria

I showed I can work with others to achieve a goal by creating a script in less than a class using only a picture and our imagination. We had to figure out who was going to play who and what they would say. This was very challenging and took teamwork and communication. During the skit we delivered our lines with emotion to sell the scene. We all had to agree to do our best acting when presenting the skit to the class.

The Writing Process

It was difficult to be consistent when reading my book over spring break, as I wanted to relax and hangout with friends. I ended up rushing to finish this book once I realized spring break was coming to an end. It was easy for me to express how I felt about this book because I found it interesting and captivating. I most enjoyed the climax and denouement because it was unexpected and set up the next book. When Thalia was resurrected I was surprised and excited to read more.

Core Competency Reflection

Evidence that I can acquire information about complex and specialized topics from various sources, synthesize it, and present it with thoughtful analysis can be found in… My book response. I thought of the events that occurred in the book and showed how I interpreted them during my presentation.

I compile and synthesize information to draw reasoned conclusions, such as when… I was working on the themes and reflection of my book. I had to use information from the book to come up with a theme and justify it to the class. I also had to reflect on how I felt about the book.

I show others that I truly value their contributions by… respectively listening to everyone when they were presenting and clapping afterwards to show that I appreciate their bravery by presenting to the class. It is not easy presenting in front of 30 people, it shows courage.

I have valuable ideas to share about… and do so by… using my voice. I can sometimes find it difficult to express myself through speaking, it is hard to formulate a sentence that will properly show what I am thinking. I had to write down key notes on my story to be able to present in front of the class effectively.
