Tiramisu

I followed a recipe from this site:

https://www.alsothecrumbsplease.com/authentic-italian-tiramisu/

This cake was very easy to make, just be piling lady fingers with cheese, its basically a coffee cheese cake. The texture is very creamy, obviously smells like coffee, the presentation is very cute how it turned out, it tastes really good and very sugary. If i made this again id change nothing because it was so simple and there were no issues. The only challenge I had with making this cake was finding a dish it could go in, thankfully i found one that worked. My greatest success was in this dish would be how fast it was made and efficiently too. I am proud that I can make a cake so easily and confidently.

Cooking a German Meal with English Dessert

Schnitzel with potato salad
Trifle

I made this all from online recipes, including the pound cake needed for the trifle.

When making this I just jumped into it not knowing much, I just hoped it would go well. I planned for my meal to be a journey of an educational experience. The pork ended up crispy like its supposed to be, the meat was cooked all the way through, soft and chewy. The potato salad tasted amazing, the bacon was crispy, the potato’s soft, onions glazed, with some parsley. The trifle was hard to layer but tasted so sweet and delicious, the cake wasn’t as soft as i wanted but was still yummy, I shouldn’t have let it cook as long. I think I could have used more seasoning because the pork was kind of bland. I believe i showed skills in confidence, knife skills and baking goods. This dish and dessert are connected to me because the schnitzel is German along with the potato salad, the trifle is English, I am both of these.

Tacos

I made tacos for my whole family. I did this with my moms instruction and box instruction. Lots of chopping and washing, and grating. When they are put together they taste crunchy and spicy, the beef smells so good, lots of taco seasoning. The soft tacos are my favorite, the hard are so messy. If I made tacos again id make more meat, cause we were very low. I faced a lot of cutting challenges but I figured it out and was very careful. My greatest success was how well I cut the veggies, my mom complimented me on it and said I was better then her. Im most proud of how it turned out overall, usually this is a two person job and I did it by myself.

My Family Tradition

What me and my mom made is yorkshire pudding, like a bread. This was passed down from my grandma to my mom and to me and my siblings. It has to be fluffy and filled with air, a spongy texture. You have to watch them rise, because sometimes they wont. They should taste Like some kind of bread, and inside it should be soft and not crunchy. This tradition is about making something so yummy and easy and in a cheap way , and bringing the family together with food. Im not sure where it stared, but the best part is the eating process cause they taste amazing with gravy. There was no issues making them but there could have easily been. mixing the batter too much might make it not rise. My greatest success was getting the mixture to a perfect consistency. Im most proud of finally knowing how to make them so I can pass this down the family.

Buddha Bowl

I made this bowl from a recipe

https://kirbiecravings.com/avocado-buddha-bowls/

I think my success with this dish is the flavor, it tasted so good and my family agrees. I think my only challenge was the quinoa being hot but I fixed that problem by putting it in the fridge. The taste was basil leaves, and the scent was fresh and strong. It looked like compost but felt amazing in your mouth. Being excited to hear the timer go off, I like quinoa, its best cooked with broth.

Quinoa Salad

Today I made quinoa salad and I learned lots from it, I used this recipe.

https://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/easy-quinoa-salad/

I have never made anything like this before so it was a journey of ups and downs. When I made the actual quinoa, I made way too much and I didn’t put it in a big enough pot. I cooked the grain in broth for more flavor and chopped all the veggies as it was cooking, green onion, tomato, avocado and spinach. This really helped me with my chopping skills and boiling skills. My advice to anyone who wants to make this is, 1 cup of quinoa goes a long way. In the end I got a bigger pot and cooked it successfully, it tasted great. I think the best thing about my dish is taste, it may not look amazing but at least I got the flavor down. Im most proud of, the process of boiling the grain because I did it perfectly.

M&M, White Chocolate Chip Cookies

I made these yummy cookies from an online recipe:

https://realhousemoms.com/white-chocolate-mm-cookies/

I decided to make cookies because iv only ever made sugar cookies, so I wanted to expand on my baking. I really want to improve my sweets baking because I have to carry my mom traditions and bake lots one day. My advice if you wanna make these is have an electric mixer, so much easier. The butter too cold and I couldn’t mix it in with the sugar so I cut the butter in small pieces. My greatest success was the final product because they tasted amazing and cooked perfectly. I am very proud that the cookies are so round and look so nice, I put enough space between them on the cookie sheet.

Vanilla Cake

The cake I made was from a recipe online:

https://www.ricardocuisine.com/en/recipes/5165-vanilla-cake-the-best

The inside is sponge texture with a sweet taste of vanilla and the whole house smelled like that. The sound of the knife cutting through, so soft. the inside didn’t cook fully, so I wish I put it in for longer, I also should have waited for it to cool before I put icing. Im still happy of ow it turned out, tasted great, Im proud that i could follow this recipe with messing it up.

Most Memorable Food Experience

Homemade Brownies

My most memorable food experience I’v had was making brownies with my sister kirsty. One night at home she and I were craving sweets and we didn’t have all the ingredients, so we had to work with what we had. The things we didn’t have, to follow the recipe online was vanilla and chocolate chips. The substitutes we used was maple syrup a long with natural coco powder. We both decided to just wing it, we made mistakes including putting in too much coco powder and by we I mean me. But even though I messed up we made it work. we didn’t own a proper pan for the treats so muffin shaped brownies had to work. We popped them in the oven and waited for them to rise. When we took them out we checked to make sure they weren’t under cooked, and once we knew, we both took a bite. The flavor was strong but still yummy enough to eat a ton of. The crispy edges were just right and the smell was overwhelming with chocolaty goodness, They were fluffy in my hands and when torn apart the spongy sound it made was odd but nice. Overall they were delicious and gone within a few days.
