This is a Digital Footprint infographic. It explains how to have a positive footprint and stay safe online. I used Microsoft Powerpoint to create it.
Personal/Social Competency Reflection
I know that my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences, including effecting how someone feels about anything so, I adjust my actions to make sure I think about what I post/comment.
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are reaching out to people I don’t normally talk to and continue talking to people I already do.
Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include staying active on social media and keeping up with current events.
This visual representation reflects the core competency communication: My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks.
I chose to do this in the shape of somebody reading a book because it represented information.
My example is the personal story assignment. I had to find images that go along with the text in a specific timeline, and I made a plan so I would know what information to include.
We used Twine to create our choose your own adventure story about concerts. My group and I communicated well before spring break, mostly to discuss what would be happening during the break. We had a lot of difficulty before the break trying to send the file to each other, resulting in us having to redo it over the break. We didn’t choose anyone to do specific jobs in the group, and we communicated in person at school. We used our time well, and while redoing the project I think I used my time well. We had a bit of trouble turning it into a zip file, but otherwise we were okay. I’m satisfied with our final product and I wouldn’t change anything next time!
When I’m stressed out, I usually just relax or go out with friends. Because of Covid and going to different schools, we all have different schedules, so sometimes technology is the closest we can get. We FaceTime all the time and it helps take my mind off of things that are stressing me out/bothering me. An escape for me is also dance. I dance four days a week with my best friends, so it can be a huge escape from stress. Sometimes dance causes stress, too, but it’s usually before a big competition or exam, and I always end up having fun afterwards. It’s good stress. When I have a healthy amount of pressure on myself, I perform well under it. Technology can help relieve my stress because talking to friends, FaceTiming friends, and listening to music are all like an escape. It can also cause stress, though. With social media and online school there’s a lot of pressure on everyone.
Social media causes stress because you may feel pressured to join the trend, look like someone, do something, or be like someone. It can cause major insecurities and change someone’s view on themselves/the world. It can also make people more comfortable though. If someone sees someone do something that they want to do, or embrace something they want to be more comfortable showing on social media.
Technology has impacted my stress levels because attending classes online and doing work online is so important, I tend to spend more time on technology.
On technology, there’s the stress of possibly not knowing how to use an app, your laptop not working, assignments not uploading on time, joining a meeting late due to connection issues, and just turning your mic/camera on in meetings. Technology can support you in wellbeing because there are different escapes for everyone. Games, music, friends, YouTube, Netflix, and other apps can take someone’s mind off of whatever may be stressing them out.
Resources available: Lots of water and land for farming, animals, etc.
Elements of the town: Land and Water
Population: 170
Explanation / Brief History: A man named John Williams lived in a small town with his father growing up on a very large farm. He liked farm life but decided he wanted to go somewhere smaller. He found Bluebrook, which is clearly a small town right by a lake. He met his wife, Florence there and they started a family, having one son. Later, John’s farm was huge and people were buying crops, animals, etc from him and he started a company. He called it Williams’ and son’s assuming his son would take over when he was able to.
Using the software reflection (Media Fluency)
A. How was the ease of access in building the town, despite this being a very super basic software?
Super easy to use and fun to do
B. Were you able to apply the skills you learned in the planning stages appropriately to a digital environment?
Sort of, I was going to make my town a little bit bigger but I like the way it turned out anyway
C. What were the sources you researched that made this an “authentic make-believe” town?
Reading Lyddie helped me think about what it might look like, so that was my main source.
D. Is there other software online that could have done the job better? Explain.
I don’t know, but this was easy to use and had a decent amount of things you could put in, though I wish there were more so the towns could be a little bigger.
I do dance, mainly tap and ballet but other styles too. I really enjoy baking, especially when I can decorate it after. Some of my favourite things to make are fudge cookies, caramel shortbread and any type of cupcake. I like reading a lot and after I finish books I’ll always watch the movie if there is one. One of my favourite movies is Clueless and I’ve watched it a lotttt. My favourite subject is socials because I find learning about history and stuff like that is fun.
technically it’s not a video but my favourite movies are all on Netflix soo
(Legally blonde, mean girls, clueless, and titanic)
My favourite picture
This is my favourite picture because it’s my puppy, Oscar, that we just got a few months ago. He’s a rescue and he came from Mexico by a three day truck ride.
My favourite quote
“What, like its hard?”
This is from Legally Blonde and I say it wayyy too often so I think its just fitting that it would be my favourite quote.
