My Digital Footprint

I feel pretty good about what I saw on my digital footprint. When I search my name on google, I can only see four things. First, I found photos of myself when I was a flower girl at a good friends wedding. Next, on Canuck Place Children’s Hospice’s website, I was mentioned because I did the Canuck Place Adventure Challenge a few times in support of a Canuck Place children’s hospice. After that, I saw that I was mentioned because I took a trip aboard the Rocky Mountaineer Train along with a few other families with Starlight Children’s Foundation. Lastly, I saw pictures of an art class that I did a couple years ago. I didn’t see anything online about me that I would like to hide or change, and for that reason I like how my digital footprint looks.

I believe that when people see my digital footprint, they would think of me as an adventurous person. They would see that I like to try new things and be outside all of the time. Being in nature and exploring are my favourite things, and I hope people can see that when viewing my digital footprint. I think people might also see that I’m very connected with my family, especially my brothers. For example, I did the Canuck Place Adventure Challenge to support my brother, who was very sick at the time. Right now I think people can see the good part of me when looking at my digital footprint, I plan for this to continue into the future.

I don’t believe my current digital footprint will affect my future education in a bad way. When applying for college/university they wouldn’t see pictures that are inappropriate; they would just see how much I love to be in nature. When i’m older I want to study science in university, I think nature plays a big role in science. For that reason, I think my digital footprint could actually help a little bit when it comes to applying for a post secondary education.

When it comes to my social life I don’t think my digital footprint will affect me quite the same. Some people would want to be friends with me and some wouldn’t. For example, if someone who likes to spend all of their free time at the mall, on the internet or watching tv saw my digital footprint they may choose not to be my friend. I would be closer friends with someone who shares some of the same interests as me like exploring the outdoors or travelling. My digital footprint could really affect my social life in a negative or positive way, depending on who’s looking at it.
