Reflection

Most of the information that I used in my timeline I found on History.com. I have been using this website for quite a while and have always found it quite reliable. I’ve always trusted this site, I think because they have a tv channel, so the information should be true. While working on this project, I always went back into my textbook to make sure that the information I found online matches with what is in the textbook. Because it was the same in both places, I knew I could trust it.
I used PowerPoint to post my work on the timeline. I have had quite a bit of experience making PowerPoints, so I knew how to use it. I considered using Sway, but I couldn’t figure out how use it; I need to practice using other sites before I use it for a project. With PowerPoint, I could easily put my photo and writing together, and make it look good. For me, it’s just nice and simple to use.
This project has really helped me understand the American Revolution, and was quite a good way for me to prepare for tests. Next time though, I would use another site, instead of PowerPoint. I am very bad at using technology, so I need to understand how to use other tools, so I can be successful in the future.

My Tribute Costume

The first word I would use when describing myself is “quiet.” I don’t talk very much around most people, except those I am very comfortable around; those I’ve known for a long time. As I get to know someone longer and longer though, I become more comfortable and talk more.
One of my skills is my education in science, and more specifically, biology. I’ve always liked to learn more when it comes to how humans and animals change and adapt in their lives. I like to watch and play hockey, because I’ve spent a lot of time playing hockey in the front yard with my brothers. For the first eight years of my life, I went to the ice rink about 4 times a week, watching my brother play hockey. Now my brother watches me play hockey. These are just a few of the things I wanted to share, and I hope you have gotten to learn a little bit more about me.

I wanted to create a costume that was just simple, because I think that best represents me. I only used black and white because I think that best suits my personality. I was hoping to design an outfit that you could wear to a party, but could also wear as a professional at your job; an outfit that you could wear more than once. While working on this project, I liked that I could be creative, and completely make my own design. I liked that it was my own idea and could express my personality. Next time, I would like to make the costume a little bit more unique, and add some more pieces of myself.
Overall, I really like my costume, and like what it represents about myself.

My Digital Footprint

I feel pretty good about what I saw on my digital footprint. When I search my name on google, I can only see four things. First, I found photos of myself when I was a flower girl at a good friends wedding. Next, on Canuck Place Children’s Hospice’s website, I was mentioned because I did the Canuck Place Adventure Challenge a few times in support of a Canuck Place children’s hospice. After that, I saw that I was mentioned because I took a trip aboard the Rocky Mountaineer Train along with a few other families with Starlight Children’s Foundation. Lastly, I saw pictures of an art class that I did a couple years ago. I didn’t see anything online about me that I would like to hide or change, and for that reason I like how my digital footprint looks.

I believe that when people see my digital footprint, they would think of me as an adventurous person. They would see that I like to try new things and be outside all of the time. Being in nature and exploring are my favourite things, and I hope people can see that when viewing my digital footprint. I think people might also see that I’m very connected with my family, especially my brothers. For example, I did the Canuck Place Adventure Challenge to support my brother, who was very sick at the time. Right now I think people can see the good part of me when looking at my digital footprint, I plan for this to continue into the future.

I don’t believe my current digital footprint will affect my future education in a bad way. When applying for college/university they wouldn’t see pictures that are inappropriate; they would just see how much I love to be in nature. When i’m older I want to study science in university, I think nature plays a big role in science. For that reason, I think my digital footprint could actually help a little bit when it comes to applying for a post secondary education.

When it comes to my social life I don’t think my digital footprint will affect me quite the same. Some people would want to be friends with me and some wouldn’t. For example, if someone who likes to spend all of their free time at the mall, on the internet or watching tv saw my digital footprint they may choose not to be my friend. I would be closer friends with someone who shares some of the same interests as me like exploring the outdoors or travelling. My digital footprint could really affect my social life in a negative or positive way, depending on who’s looking at it.
