My Reflection
Was I able to identify how the geography impact the town / city with ease? How was I able to find how the physical geography impacted these areas?
Considering the amount of sources we had provided for us of the physical geography of the regions in Canada, I didn’t have much of a difficult time gathering and putting information into my project. Most of my work was from the notes I took down on my Idea Diagram, which I filled in with the Crossroads textbook. But I did do a bit of research for some background information to give my answers more “depth” and understanding.
How did the technology personally affect my learning? What were the pros and cons of using maphub.com? Be detailed in your response here.
Honestly, I think that the quality of more work is better with doing it on maphub.com and with technology than doing it on actual paper, because everything is organized and can be accessed almost anywhere. I don’t have to be too worried about losing my work. With technology, I guess it’s also more efficient in a way. Almost no paper is wasted, no drafts or copies really have to be made and you don’t have to carry a lot of stuff if you needed to bring the project with you. Although there’s a lot of benefits of using technology to do this project, there’s also some downsides. For me personally, I get a bit more distracted because of how much tools I can use to make my project look more aesthetic and presentable. Yes, it is a good thing that technology provides these tools, but I think I spend too much time designing and focusing on how it looks sometimes. Another disadvantage is sometimes when “‘technical difficulties” occur. For example, the wifi turns off or there’s a bug in the website. Other than that, I think it’s great that schools are starting to use technology to their advantage more.
Were you satisfied with the result of your design and solutions?
I think that I was able to reach and go a bit farther than the level of satisfaction I wanted to achieve. I put lots of effort into detail in the information I gave in my project, cause I knew that I’d be distracted by the designing tools again… BUT I did have fun exploring another new and unfamiliar website. And even though I’ll always have the mindset of thinking that I could’ve done a better job in all of my projects, I think that I put enough effort into this one.
How would you refine your assignment in the future?
I’ll be honest, I really hate this question and have the most difficult time answering it because I always try and make sure that my best effort is put into my projects. But I’m also glad that we get asked this often when finishing up our projects because it helps me grow and improve the quality of my future assignments. Anyways, I think that I was capable of making my project more interesting by looking for more of my town’s unique features. (Hopefully that makes sense.) Furthermore, what I mean is that even though there’s so many different things that the regions and areas of Canada have from each other, there might have been some unique features that Ottawa had. I think that I would’ve been more satisfied knowing that I tried to look more for them even if I couldn’t find any. (I really hope this all makes sense.) I’m really scared to put this on here but I also think that I could’ve put a bit more time into my project. But don’t take that the wrong way, I did try my best to put time into it, it’s just that I procrastinated a bit. It’s something that I’ve always tried to get rid of through my years of school, and I’m sure that so many students go through too.
