My partner Yubin and I created this story for our English 9 class. The theme of this story is to solve riddles correctly to escape the abandoned house.

Communication Reflection

I communicated with my partner in person and text using Instagram. We both brainstormed different riddles and chose which ones we thought were best. Then, we laid it out on a template. Over the break, I found pictures to complete the project. We both worked well together and asked questions when we needed help. I’m satisfied with the final product but I think we could have added more detail to the overall story.

Reflection

a. Was I able to identify how the geography impact the town / city with ease? How was I able to find how the physical geography impacted these areas?

I was able to identify how the geography impacted my city quite easily. I found the information by researching on a variety of different websites and using my notes.

b. How did the technology personally affect my learning? What were the pros and cons of using maphub.com? Be detailed in your response here.

The technology made the learning easier for me. I could plot the areas and explanations accurately easily. The only problem I had was that the website took a while to get used to.

c. Were you satisfied with the result of your design and solutions?

I am not completely satisfied with my result. I think it could be neater, I am not confident I did it correctly, and my explanations could be expanded on.

d. How would you refine your assignment in the future?

I hope to make it neater and include more details in my explanations.

My Bio

My name is Laura and I’m in grade 9 this year at Centennial High School. My classes this quarter are Media Arts and Math. My best course is Media Arts. I feel like I understand everything we learnt so far. I like sketching and drawing, so drafting and design is fun for me. I’m also excited to learn about 2D and 3D animation.  My most challenging course is Math. I’m in Math Honors 10, which I find difficult. We learn at a quick pace, and sometimes I feel like I can’t catch up or don’t understand what I’m learning. Although it’s hard, I think with some extra help and more practice I will be able to do better.  

I learn best by working alone with music. I tend to get distracted when I’m working with people or there are distractions. Music helps me concentrate as well, but I can’t work continuously for a long time because I get bored after a while, and I usually end up going off track.

I enjoy using YouTube. This website is very good because it has all sorts of content on it. If I ever need help with anything, I can go to YouTube and find a tutorial. If I feel like having a laugh, I have many videos saved. It has something out there for everyone. When I’m bored, I tend to scroll through my home page and look for new videos to watch. 

My Favorite Video

This is a link to a lo-fi hip hop radio. I enjoy this video because when I study or do homework, this is the perfect background music for me. The genre of music is not too loud so it doesn’t distract me and it’s not silence either, which is what I need while I’m studying. It’s also a live video, so I don’t have to switch to a different playlist half way through as it goes on forever. It’s quite relaxing and I often listen to it while I’m not studying as well.

This is a photo of a digital drawing by one of my favorite artists, @tapiyokat on Instagram. During quarantine, I discovered one of her videos and it motivated me to start improving my drawing skills again. She is a big inspiration for me. This is just one of my favorite artworks that she drew, but all of her artwork is gorgeous.
