Critical and Reflective Thinking

My Artifact: Poetry Unit Project

I can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my work; evidence of that is my poetry unit project. As I was working on this assignment, I often asked my peers to review my work. This project required me to think critically and creatively to be able to write each poem. Knowing this, it was important for me to hear constructive criticism to be able to do my best. For example, in one of my poems, I was unsure whether I had used the literary devices correctly. I reached out to one of my friends who was confident in her abilities in poetry, and she helped me correct my mistakes. If I had not asked for help, my grade and feelings towards this project may have dropped. I understand that I can constantly improve and asking for help and using my resources are strengths, so I often asked the teacher if I could make any changes that would benefit my project. This assignment helped build on my confidence by reaching out for help when I needed it. I hope to continue working on my critical and reflective thinking through my work and experiences.

Critical and Reflective Thinking

My Artifact: To Kill A Mockingbird Test
My Artifact: To Kill A Mockingbird Test

i demonstrated my critical and reflective thinking through the TKAM test we did in English class. I did this by answering the questions given with as much detail as possible. On the “quotes and significance” part on the test, we were to identify the speaker of a quote from book and indicate why it is significant. I spent time to reflect on how the quote relates back to the main story and why it may relate to the themes of the book. This part, along with the short answer questions, made me consider the reasons “To Kill A Mockingbird” is an important story to read that teaches us moral lessons, provides us a perspective on racial prejudice and injustice through the lens of the Finch family, and how these topics may be prevalent in society today. I hope to continue to work on my critical and reflective thinking through different book studies.
