CPR

During one of the presentations I learned about CPR. I learned that i could save somebody’s life by performing this simple task. At first you should call 911 right away. The first step if there is water should be to get the individual away from large puddles of water so the electricity doesn’t shock either of us. The next step is to perform 30 chest compressions to the individual. The beat that you can remember is staying alive by the bee gees. Then if the ambulance doesn’t show up repeat this process. Once the ambulance arrives step away and let them do their job. Now that i know this i can take action and save someones life.

My Writing Process

While drafting my questions to ask my Mormor I needed to ask open ended questions to make sure i got all the information i needed. I had a difficult time meeting up with my Mormor because i am very busy with sports and school. I found time and went to her house to Interview her. I was surprised by my Mormor’s answers and learned knew things about my Danish heritage. Another thing that i realized is that i don’t think i could’ve learned a new language as quick as my Mormor did . One thing that i found funny was how my Grandpa and my Mormor met. Overall this was a fun project that made me realize where i came from.

Core Competency Reflection

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by… Using open ended questions to get the max amount of information. This can help make make essay longer and give me more information to work with. When I present my information i speak loud and clear so my classmates understand me.

I use evidence to make judgements or decisions as demonstrated in this… I used my Mormor’s stories in my essay because they help paint a picture in the audience’s heads.

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is… When My Mormor said that Vancouver Island was bigger than Denmark i showed my friends the comparison.

I appreciate feedback on… and prefer it comes in the form of… I appreciate feedback because thats the things i need to work on next time. If I learn from my mistakes i will do better the next time. I like to be told by getting my marks back right away.

French 11 Movie Posters

I demonstrated collaborating with my group-mates by pitching in my own ideas while building off my group-mates ideas. I also demonstrated my critical thinking skills by coming up with ideas to design the poster. I also used my critical thinking skills to properly pronounce the words in french for my project. I demonstrated my communication skills by working well with my group and getting the project done on time.

Life Saving Measures

During this CPR unit i have learned a lot of valuable lessons. I have learned that only 40% of people will actually do something if someones going into Cardiac arrest. If you perform CPR u can save the persons life. I didn’t realize that you had to check your surroundings before you perform CPR. You must start out by checking the persons pulse. This can reflect on real life because you can save somebody’s life by just doing a simple task. This can help boost up the 40% and make people more comfortable to perform CPR.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection 

I can analyze evidence to make judgements. When performing CPR I can now think remember the steps and think critical and not overcompensate during performing CPR. I can now save someone life.

Natural Selection Critical thinking Self Assessment

In this lab we tested out the theory of natural selection. We had a group of 5 people who each got their own tool to use to grab the different “food” in the bins. I had I broken pair of chopsticks. I demonstrated my critical thinking skills to use the broken chopsticks to the best of their ability. I twirled the chopsticks up to wrap the spaghetti around them, I then filled my cup first and one. I know understand that different species have to adapt to different climates to survive

Unit Core Competency Self-Assessment

I demonstrated my Thinking skills during my virus project by making a creative skit that involves me talking and going into heavy detail about my virus (rabies). I also had creative ideas like making characters in the skit, in the skit i was a doctor telling the audience about rabies. I also demonstrated my communication skills by collaborating with my group-mates and pitching in ideas while building off of there ideas. We also used our thinking skills by making a 3D model of the virus, having it coloured and labeled out all the important components of the virus.

Is history the story told by the ‘winners’?

History is told by everyone which gives a lot of different point of views. History is also informed by people who are patriots and bend the story a bit to make there country look better. History is also told by losers because they have to share there experiences just like the winners.

I can analyze evidence to make judgements by using trusted primary sources. I use primary sources because thats the best real evidence that you can get. A primary source is mostly authentic source once it gets down to a secondary source the information bends a little bit.

a shows the compression or expansion of the parabola. it also describes weather the parabola opens upwards (+) or downwards(-). a also changes the value of y.

h=

h tells how many units the vertex shifts horizontally right (+) left (-).

K=

k tells how many units the vertex shifts vertically up(+) down(-)

I used the same mathematical idea by explaining what k,h and a are for a math equation. Then i explained what my values were for k,h and a and how they affect my problem. Then i created a graph with my parabola and then explained what was happening in my graph and how it was different from the other graph.

In this assignment i used math vocabulary like Horizontal and Vertical which described the way my parabola were shifting. I also used words like Compression and expansion which were talking about the parabola.

I used matching colours for the definitions and i laid it out all neatly on Desmos.

Communication through a group project

During this project i used my communication skills by collaborating with my group mates and always listening to there ideas to combine with mine. Anytime my group mates asked a question i demonstrated leadership by answering them and guiding them in the right direction. I always ask questions to my group mates to keep them thinking and also to keep us talking so we can have more chemistry while working.

I can take on roles and responsibility in a group by always talking with my group members and always helping them when as they need it.
