English 11 First Peoples Reflection Edublog Post

One of the pages of the comic that I made for the paly here the Blood mixes

My journey into reading and reflecting on the play, Where the Blood Mixes, helped me learn about some of the affects that Residential Schools have on Native people today. I have grown in my understanding of Indigenous history and experience. Through the communication core competency I can say that as an active listener, I notice that there there are some profound effects on the Native populace that lie under the surface, caused by residential schools. One effect that I saw in this play is what affect generational trauma can have on the children of he victims of residential school. An example of this was how Floyd’s child Christine was separated from her father due to neglect after her mother died. She had to live with a foster family and didn’t know who her father was or what lead to her getting taken away. In conclusion, Where the Blood Mixes, helped me learn about some of the affects that Residential Schools have on Native people today and help me grow in my understanding of Native history and experience.
