Critical and Reflective Thinking

I think our criminal Justise system should be more rehabilitate because the Canadian justice system aims to punish the crime rather than rehabilitate an individual. a lot of Canadians have mental illness or substance use issues. although our system is pretty good like we are ranked 12th overall out of 139 countries in justice system we could help the people that have issues with heath and drugs a little more.

I can analyze evidence to make judgements. 

I can look at the evidence I gather and make judgements to them. Because it is my evidence so i feel like it is easier to make judgements to the evidence I gathered.

Asking questions

When I was in ceramics class, I made sure to ask which one was the correct glaze before I used it. I feel confident to ask questions to help me get information.

Strength: Collaborating

When I know that I don’t get something, I do a good job at asking for help from my teachers. A situation where I asked for help was when I was writing my fairy tale assignment for English. I was having trouble with writing out my story so I asked Ms. Quigley to help scribe for me. With her scribing for me, I was able to get the assignment done on time. If I didn’t collaborate with someone to help me, I don’t know if I would have been successful in doing my fairy tale.

Growth: Communication

Collaborating helps me to communicate with people when I need help. I think I need to grow more in this core competency because communication will help me be successful in future assignments when I don’t know something.

What questions did you need to research in order to create your paper? When I was doing this paper, I needed to research all of these questions:

-what are hurricanes?

-how does/can hurricanes occur?

-what are the risks?

-what are the effects on people and/or environment?

-how are hurricanes prevented?

-how do people prepare for hurricanes?

-what are some real life examples of hurricanes?

-what are the hazards and safety for hurricanes?

-where are hurricanes located?

What new or familiar digital tools did you try to use as you worked through this project?

When doing this project a used word, YouTube and google.

What was the process you used to investigate the topic and how did you verify and cite the information you found?

I used valid websites like NASA

How did the process of completing this challenge go? What could you have done better?

I could have put the picture around the project not just in one place on the paper.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I… listen to music or just take a few minutes to calm down and re-focus. Music grounds me and makes the unnecessary thoughts vanish.

An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is… I learned a lot about hurricanes. I find natural disasters very intriguing, and I spent lots of time expanding my knowledge on the cause, process, and effects of hurricanes.

One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is… When I’m feeling stuck, I gain motivation and encouragement through seeing other people’s creations. Pinterest is a good site for me to gain inspiration from others ideas.

Asking questions 

I ask questions in LEC when I don’t understand or know how to do something. An example of this was when I was working on a socials Egyptian tomb and needed help writing a paragraph. I asked a question which helped me understand what to do.

Core Competency Reflection 

When I meet a challenge, I ask questions in order to help me overcome the challenge. When I ask questions and learn new things I grow academically and as a person.

Creative Thinking

The project I chose to write about is the housing project. In this project I had to use my creative thinking skills in many different ways. First of all, I had to choose and evaluate a specific area to build my building. Then, I had to come up with a cost for rent. After that I had to design my building. This involved size of building, number of units, number of floors, number of bedrooms, etc. Finally, I had to create and draw my building from the outside. I used ibis paint X to draw my building plans.

In this project I excelled in my drawing skills and evaluation skills. My drawing is very neat, precise, colourful, etc. My evaluation skills were used to assess the area I planned to build my building.

I could have improved in my creative ideas. I could have added more detail and information about my building.

Personal Health and Wellness

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I… I take a nap. in addition to that I would do something I enjoy. Like playing basketball or watching movies. To re-focus I like to chew some gum or drink some ice cold water. Ice water makes me feel alive and it is refreshing.

I work with others to achieve a goal.  In football we all worked together to get to our goal.

I understand how my values shape my choices.  I value making the right choices in class.

I recognize my emotions and use strategies to manage them. I recognize that I can control my emotions sometimes when I get angry I walk away or just not talk to people.

I can identify my strengths and identify my potential. When I Exceed something I enjoy it.
