Graphic Novel Adaptation

My Reflection

Tim Burton, in Edward Scissorhands, used the “Hold me” scene in order to show that Edward cares very deeply about Kim, so rather than accidentally hurting her, he chooses not to hug Kim for her safety. For example, in my own interpretation, I kept the part where Edward was standing by himself near the window with a blank face because it was clearly shown how much it pained him to not know how to hold Kim without hurting her. This adaptation from film to visual novel taught me how small details, even the ones that are only on screen for a few seconds, can totally change the perspective of what the scene would look like to the audience. Without this certain scene, some viewers may not have realized that Edward cares very much about Kim, and may misrecognize Edward’s actions and words instead.

What’s the word around town?

My Reflection

Questions:

  1. Was I able to identify how the geography impacted the town/city with ease? How was I able to find how the physical geography impacted these areas?
  2. How did the technology personally affect my learning? What were the pros and cons of using maphub.com?
  3. Were you satisfied with the result of your design and solutions?
  4. How would you refine your assignment in the future?

Answers:

  1. Some parts of identifying how it impacted Jasper was easy for me, because for Physical Landforms and Vegetation, I thought it was easier because looking at my notes and looking at some (very helpful) websites, I think I really understood it much more better than I have before this assignment. Climate was a bit harder because it took me a while to think of how climate can develop the town 25 years from now. I found out how the physical geography impacted Jasper from mostly my notes.
  2. Technology affected my learning, because a few times I forgot to cite a website, thus I had to go back and either find what the website was, or to find another website and remember to cite this time. Some advantages of using maphub.com was that I learned how to use this website better and that I learned a lot from writing my notes into organized sentences with clear sentences. A disadvantage would be that maybe that I forgot to save citations/websites sometimes which led me to re-finding or finding a new website.
  3. I think I am satisfied with my work, because I learned a lot from this project and I feel that it was interesting to brainstorm 25 years from now for this project.
  4. In the future, I would perhaps try to add more sentences onto each point and try to procrastinate less.

About Me

My Bio

My name is April, and I love watching Netflix. I love listening to music and my favourite genre of music is pop. Some of my favourite singers at the moment are Harry Styles and Jeremy Zucker. Some words my friends describe me as would be straightforward, friendly and hardworking. My favourite subject would probably be English. My favourite tv shows would be The 100 and Stranger Things, and as for movies, I would probably say The Maze Runner.

My Favourite Website

https://www.wattpad.com

I like this website because it is an online reading website where most books are for free. In addition, there aren’t many ads, and there are millions of books-each with different plot-to choose from. It also lets you write your own story, and if your story gets enough attention from readers and is an original story, you may get paid to write stories.

My Favourite Image

I chose this image because I enjoy watching Netflix, whether if it’s when I’m bored or just want to watch something with my family. I enjoy watching Netflix because there are a variety of movies/tv shows to choose from, and after a long day I can choose to relax and watch by myself or I can spend time with my family, watching a movie together. I found this image on google after I searched up ‘person watching netflix’.

My Favourite Quote

“There’s a light at the end of every tunnel. Some tunnels just happen to be longer than others.’-Ada Adams

This quote is important to me because it lets me know that no matter what, things will always get better soon and it reassures me. Also, this is one of the first quotes I learned that I thought helped, so I like using this quote whether it’s to reassure myself, or to give advice to my friends.

My Favourite Video

I chose this video because my goal for this year is to not procrastinate while doing homework so I don’t get off-task and delay my homework. In grade 8 I procrastinated heavily, which lead to me having to do homework until a very late time. Hopefully this year I’ll learn how to keep doing homework without losing my focus.
