Minecraft – Energy Transfer and Transformation

1. How efficiently did your group work?

My group became more of a partnership when it came to creating the Minecraft world. My group member and I worked on the Minecraft world pretty efficiently, mainly via video calls outside of school. We faced some difficulties along the way, like finding time when our schedules lined up while working outside of school. In the end we turned in the finished product on time, with all the necessary parts.

2. Were the behaviors of any of your team members particularly valuable or detrimental to the team?

Aishvihn’s behavior was very valuable. She had used Minecraft more in the past resulting in us working more efficiently, as she knew her way around the game. She had great ideas and valuable insight on what we should build and how we should build it. She had a great understanding of the task at hand and what we needed to do to accomplish that task in the time given. We had gotten one of the harder energy sources to show, especially through a game (geothermal energy); But we found a way to represent that by building a volcano. As it was the best visually appealing and eye catching way to show the potential and kinetic energy and explain how it gets transferred and transformed to be used as power to the building and house. Aishvihn made great use of the signs that needed to be put up, by thoroughly explaining what was happening at each step.

3. What did you learn about working in a group from this project that you will carry into your next group experience?

Working in a group has taught me that it’s important to have patience. Things rarely go according to plan in regular projects, and working in a group brings more responsibilities and more things that could go wrong along with it. It’s also important to have patience with schedules, as everyone has different obligations outside of school. I will carry on that it’s very important to use time wisely and have patience while working in a group, as schedules differ from person to person. Meaning it’s important to get as much done when the schedules line up and using the time when they don’t, to plan ahead.
