Workplace Math 10 (Critical Thinking)

In math this year we had games days on most Friday’s. I played Uno; although I wasn’t very good at it to start. I didn’t even know the rules of the game, as I had only ever played once or twice prior, never really understanding what to do. I had no strategy to begin with; I put down random cards in hopes it would be within the rules. When I started understanding what the rules and objectives were, I used critical thinking and found a strategy that worked to win almost every game. I would play “normally” for awhile then check how many cards the other players had, if they had a lot I would use as many non-important cards as I could (regular numbers), then start taking cards from the deck when it was my turn. I had other cards but I kept them to bluff my way through and make it seem like I was the one losing, having to pick up so many cards. When they had fewer cards I would bring out the cards I had saved, and start putting those down. Cards like “+4″,”+2” and “skip turn” were the best. I would do this just as they were beginning to be confident in themselves, as they would have three or less cards left.
