A small bit of the project

Core Competency Reflection

Evidence that I can acquire information about complex and specialized topics from various sources, synthesize it, and present it with thoughtful analysis can be found in my paragraph where I summarize the guy with information like his age, is date of death, his origin in music, and the period when he was popular.

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen when I presented my paragraph where I was able to summarize it in English without practice.

I would like to work on my conjugation and understanding of imperfect verbs.

Book Club/Group Work Reflection

Curricular Response

One challenge I faced with my Book was the length and text size. Since I’m a slow reader it felt like I was finishing one page every five minutes.

I liked how meandering things were however I disliked the lack of quotation marks.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

I worked cooperatively with my group and was willing to help with any task.

I answered the question I was assigned and was willing to help with any task, I just wasn’t asked.

I contributed as much as I could to group discussions and to the work required.

I mostly stayed silent during group discussion, only chiming in when needed and I wasn’t able to present.

SJ Midterm Reflection

Core Competency Reflection

I am clear on the difference between simple “group work” and collaboration as evidenced by me helping disperse important information between the slides after we all made ours. For example, many slides had the same information, so we had to spread it across the slides as to not repeat ourselves.

I seek, develop and weigh options as demonstrated by where I helped disperse the information across the slides. For example, the wide impact section originally summarized the Report a second time but was edited to remove some minor information to be kept in the wide impact section, while a lot of unneeded information was cut out of the wide impact section.

I want to start building off of other people’s ideas to be a better collaborator.

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is…

I want to improve this because I want to create better projects by incorporating more perspectives on what would make it better. I will attempt to do this in future projects.

My Work

R&J Alternate Universe Project:

When I first started this project I was worried I wouldn’t write enough. Ironically I accidentally wrote too much. Despite that, I’m proud of what was written.

Core Competency Reflection

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include searching up the meaning of words to make sure I’m using them correctly.

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I attempt to start conversation by, for example asking what they’re reading if I see a book on their desk to somewhat break the ice.

Choir Edublog Post

PERSONAL & SOCIAL

In the wise words of Ethan McCafe “This year I was sigma!!!”, aside from the fact that I didn’t do any reflections. I also didn’t try to get any solos until the last concert.

Over time, I have learned to make choices that align with the choir’s goals and my vocal aspirations, as seen in my decision to attempt to blend more with my peers rather than try to make my voice stand out more. last year I tended to want to stand out more failing to realize that choirs sound best when they sound like one voice.

Within the choir community, I recognize my potential as a leader. This became evident when I joined Music Council. Unfortunately I did not end up doing much in Music Council but I will aim to volunteer more.

I prioritize my vocal well-being by consistently sustaining a healthy and balanced vocal lifestyle. This includes drinking silly drinks that help clear my throat. I also don’t practice metal screaming (unlike SOMEONE).

COMMUNICATION

In the wise words of Ethan McCafe “This year I was sigma!!!”, aside from the fact that I didn’t do any reflections. I also didn’t try to get any solos until the last concert.

Working with my fellow choir members for our last performance, I contributed to our success by groovin and shmovin. I also smiled even though my heart was aching while performing.

Throughout our recent choir assignment and performance, I noticed growth in my ability to groove and shmove enhancing my stage presence. I can also hit higher notes now which is jolly good.

To further develop these competencies for future choir performances, I plan to work on my timing to make my groovin more effective. I will also attempt to encourage other members to partake in the shmovin while also interacting with them more during performances. I notice that I close my eyes a lot during Performances so I’ll work on that as well. I will also work on stuttering and pausing less while I introduce songs.

Core Competency Final Reflection

My First year

This year has gone well. I made various cool graphs in a few math projects. I made quite the splendid English project on the book Homeland by Cory Doctorow which I’m proud of. I won a top student award in choir but you can’t see it in the picture below because I folded it up and put it in my pocket like an idiot.

Hooray!
