Transforming Parabolas

Parent Function (Blue):

Assigned Function (Red):

Graphed Function:

Explanation:

In my equation, it is shown that my parabola (Red) is shifted to the left instead of being in the center. This is because the “h”, in this case, 4+, makes it go to the left by four spots because a positive number makes it go left and a negative number makes it go right. Then, it is also shown that the vertex of the parabola is much higher than the parent function, this is because the “k” in the assigned function is 5. and on top of that, compared to the parent function, the parabola looks a little more compressed, this is because of how the “a” is a 3. a higher number makes the parabola more compressed while a lower number would make the parabola more wide.

Reflection:

1. I was able to comprehend multiple values in the function and elaborate on how each variable was able to do different things to the parabola.

2. Vocabulary used: Parabola — a graphed equation of the function, positive number — a number more than 0, negative number — a number less than 0, vertex — the point in which the line of symmetry and maximum/minimum value intercept, compress — to “squeeze or press into a smaller footprint,

3. I first wanted to show what I would be talking about by showing relevant information before any of the text is shown until the reader scrolls down.

PC 11 Chapter 1 Edublog

A challenge I faced in Chapter 1 was in a handout for 1.7. Question 6 has a question where you would have to have to first find restraints then solve for the variable and afterwards you would plug in the variable to make sure it equals the same on both sides. In hindsight, it isn’t that hard, but doing this for the first time the amount of steps made it very easy to lose track if not fluent. this problem on itself that I faced was enough for me to make a micro-mistake that led me to have a wrong answer. but, after looking at the one note for the correct solution I was able to break down each step to be able to correctly do the equation.

Me Card — Reflection

While making the “me card” I started to think more and more about what skills could be further trained and polished. doing this could be able to give me a future that I will enjoy without burnout. and within that, I also learned about things that I’m not as good at, because of that I’m now going to start improving the skills that I’m not as good at.

R1 – Harajuku Fashion

Overall, my opinion on harajuku fashion is positive, the style and aesthetic is very cute and colourful making it very easy to stand out over the crowd of mostly comformity dressed citizens. Very much i am into this kind of approuch to apparel styling. I find it very easy to understand the kind of thinking that people do when choosing to wear these kinds of clothes as it can mean being part of a community and being free with one’s choices. But, in Canada in my opinion this kind of aesthetic could be very popular with this western culture, i don’t think it would blend in very well with current fashion trends that are present as of now. And, about my style. It’s very simplistic to say the least and very little would i change anything because i mostly wear clothes that will feel comfortable.

Linear Equation Word Problem Post

  1. A peice of land was going to be sold for $560,000 after 2 years of being bought. But, a real estate agent says that in another ten years the plot with be able to be sold for double of the orignal price which was $480,000.

a) Write this into a Function Notation Equation

Answer Key:

(2, 560 000) (0, 480 000)

560 000 – 480 000 = $80 000/2yrs = $40 000/yrs — V(t) = 40 000t + 480 000

2 – 0

b) What would the price be if the land was sold after seven years?

Answer Key: V(7) = 40 000(7) + 480 000

V(7) = 760 000

After seven years it will cost $760,000.

In this project i connected with my real life thinking and thinking in math, first i was able to think of math question to meet the requirements to the assignment and i was able to properly solve according to the question, i even had two other people try to solve and came out with the same answer.

Meal Planning Assignment

Problem

Currently, there is a family of four including Parent A, Parent B, Teen 1 and Teen 2. They need a good meal plan that will fit in with their activity filled schedule to have a healthy and relaxing for all to enjoy.

Solution

Justification

Monday: Teen 1 is making a 30-minute pesto chicken pasta recipe and should be able to finish around 7:05 and would have enough time for Parent A to get ready for their evening activity

Tuesday: Parent A is making a 60-minute beef wellington recipe and will finished around 6:50 and will hopefully finish eating at around 7:30 for an evening activity

Wednesday: Teen 2 is making a 45-minute Barbecued Ribs recipe and should be able to finish and serve at around 6:50.

Thursday: Teen 1 is going to take Tuesday’s Leftovers for dinner

Friday: Parent B is making a 30-minute Spaghetti and Meatballs recipe and will finish and serve at around 6:45.

Collaboration Reflection

Through the assignment our group had communicated multiple times to fix oddities within the table to make sure that it would make sense and looked origanised for the edublog post.

we also split everything up into different parts so that everyone had a part to play and the one day that got leftover, was a leftovers day so no one had to do two days.

Self Assessment: Collaboration & Critical Thinking

If there is a disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to take the problem step by step to find out what we exactly disagree on and how to fix it.

I know the group is working well together when I see everything being attentive while working on their assignment and what part(s) we gave to one and other.

i can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my own work; evidence of that is when I gave some ideas on what recipes to put into the table so that it would fit the criteria

I can use evidence to make judgements of decisions as demonstrated in this table when I could go onto a recipe website and consider what would and wouldn’t fit into the times of the family.

Advertisement and Persuasion

My Advertisement

Persuasion and Advertisement Techniques

The Lamborghini Company should be benefiting from this Commercial since it’s supposed to pull people in to buy their cars.

The target audience is most likely car enthusiasts or young people who like slick and fast cars.

Since there is only positive information on the poster the company obviously wants people to buy and use their cars.

The poster is using logical persuasion as there are statistics on it to show how well it performs.

This is a straightforward ad because it just lists things about the car

On the poster, it lists specifications of the car like its acceleration speed and its top speed.

So overall, the presentation from the poster is very straight to the point and shows you most things that you would need to know about the product before buying.

Core Competencies

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. Like how my slides in the presentation were clean, organized and straight to the point

I can work with others to achieve a goal. Like how I was able to work together with my group to be able to create a presentation where all of us would have a part in.

I find it easy to be part of a group. When having multiple people in a group it makes things easier to finish because everyone has a part to play when heading towards a goal.

I can reflect on my thinking. Reflecting to thinking is really making me think about the project and how its going to turn out.
