Black Pleaded Skirt – Textiles 12

#CommunicationCC: I have sewn a knife pleated skirt in Textiles class. It is by far the most difficult and the best project I’ve ever created in this class. I’ve communicated with my peers and teacher about our projects to get some of their ideas and tips from them, it is mostly my teacher who helped me out with it.

I’ve learned how to use the sewing machine, sew pleats, zipper, belt loops, hooks, and some hand sewing. I’ve learned about the difference between fabric and fiber, I’ve learned about cotton, silk, and their history, where they came from.

Social Studies Mid-Term Assessment

Exploring Cultural Holidays Project (Nowruz)

Creative thinking: I can get creative when it comes to crafting things for the projects (Coming up with ideas and using the right resources).

Communication and Collaboration: We can communicate to each other to do a specific part of the project (I drew the artifacts and did the research, my other partners did the research and the artifact/paragraph cutouts). I can take on roles and responsibilities and do my share in a group. I can work with other people to achieve our goals.

Creating and innovating: We used cardboard and colored construction paper for our artifact cutouts, I thought that our bulletin board can be the table of the Nowruz holiday to place our artifacts on it.

Core Competency Virus Project

#ThinkingCC I was thinking about how to create my virus model with cheap items, I was doing the Bacteriophage where it looks more unique than the other viruses. I got ideas by looking at the other virus models that were hanging down from the ceiling, I already had some stuff at home and I went to the dollar store to find some crafting stuff that I need. The stuff I used for my virus model includes:

Tooth pick for the Teeth

Cardboard (including the core of the toilet paper roll) for the Tail Sheath and the Base.

Rope to wrap around the Tail Sheath to give it the pattern

Blue pipe cleaners for the Tail Fibers and to cover around the Base

Blue plastic gashapon ball for the Capsid/Head

Blue string for the DNA of the virus

I used my own hot glue gun to permanently stick everything together, I didn’t took a picture of my virus model yet, but I’m happy how it turned out at the end. My pamphlet for the project didn’t turned out well because I had to rush it at the end, but it has plenty of information about the virus.

Feeding Frenzy Lab (Science 11)

We did a lab where we had to fill up our cups (stomachs) and whoever’s cup got full we had to stop filling up ours. We were given different kinds of utensils/tools for each environment to compete with each other.

#ThinkingCC: We had to come up with different kinds of strategies to fill up our cups more faster (adapting to the environment) and so we did.

Textiles Arts And Crafts – Drawstring Bag

#CommunicationCC

I can represent my learning and tell how it connects to my experiences. I’ve sown a drawstring bag by using the sowing machine, and I’m proud of how it turned out at the end. I didn’t imagine that it would turn out the way it turned out to be so I’m happy about that.

I listened and asked for help when I needed it (from my teacher and people around me).

Identity Poem – Donya

Here’s my poem about “Your Bad Experiences”

Core Competency Reflection:

I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener

I can understand that learning is continuous and my identity will continue to evolve.

I can identify my strengths and identify my potential

I can recognize different points of view and can disagree respectfully

I chose these 4 because it matches to who I am

Art Studio Core Competency Reflection

Creative Thinking Skills

My Artifact: It’s an art that I made that is about making an album cover for an artist/song that you like. As you can tell I have an odd taste in music and while listening to that song (which was Deftones) I have made up an album cover for them.

I demonstrated my creative skills through this project by: An anime called Neon Genesis Evangelion, it gave me the idea to draw the thing in the middle, and so I thought that it also matches the song that I was listening to.

English Language Arts Core Competency Self-Assessment

Artifact: Something that I am proud of is a quick write that I wrote recently.

Explanation: The quick write is in first person point of view as you can tell, and I am proud of it because it is something that I made up with, and I like mini stories like these especially when it comes from my mind. I learned some new words from English 10 and I used some of them sitting around in some mini stories, either from home or in an assignment.

How To Use Commas

This instructional design about commas was created by: Madisyn, Brandon and me, Donya.

Communication Reflection

-Paragraph reflection

a) We used PowerPoint for the project and design, the purpose was it to show people what a comma looks like and that we’re talking about commas.

b) We communicated through class

c) My responsibility was to make a draft of the project before making the main one, I also did some research and let the other member know what I found and learned or already knew.

d) We did use the time wisely and we did our roles at home, so we did good.

e) We decided who does what, and yes I did faced some problems like not understanding what to do after the project was done. And I solved it by getting help by a teacher.

f) Yes I was satisfied with the project and I will improve by knowing what to do next and try to hand it in in time.
