My Digital Footprint
How To Have A Decent Digital Footprint:

Personal/Social Competency Reflection
I make digital ethical choices such as putting the least amount of info about me online so people can’t blackmail me or use my personal information. When I’m online, I use aliases and don’t enter my real info. (unless it is for something important, and/or I know the site is safe). It is also good if you don’t use the exact same password for all of your accounts, so nobody can easily guess your password if they already know one of them. I know that my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences. This can be people that are looking to hire you can find what you’re like (hobbies, strengths, etc) (positive). But they can also see images or comments that are inappropriate or controversial (negative), or people obtaining your personal information so they can scam or impersonate you (also negative). So I adjust my actions to put as less personal information about myself online when possible. When I google myself, I can’t find anything about me. My strengths as a digital citizen include knowing what and when to post, and answering someone’s question if I know the answer. They contribute to my community (classroom, club, city, etc.) because I can help people with technical/computer problems or give them information from a past experience to help them. I would do this on Discord, for certain servers with people that I know and trust; Cloudy Nights, a site where you talk about astronomy and telescope stuff; and Facebook, but again, with groups I trust. |
