Core Competency Self Assesment

I chose ” to prune my work ” as my writing goal because we had just finished learning what pruning was with ms wallet and I was still working on being good at it. when writing this paragrph I tried to stick to the outline and format correctly. I still struggle with spelling mainly because I try to write as fast as I can so if I just take some more time while writing it should get better. during this paragraph I was able to go back to it and edit and prune more then the first two.

during the first week of class we learned about shutter speed and aperture. I took this photo by having a low Sutter speed and a try pod so there would only be blur where the guy was moving. I chose this photo out of the many others I took that day because it not only follows the instructions given it also gives me a nostalgic feel.

I get new ideas or represent others ideas in novel ways.
I use my experiences with various steps and attempts to direct my future work this critique kind of changed the way I look at photography, before id look and just see a photo but while looking at this photo I saw the thought and steps gone into making it and going forward I was much more aware of the things I wanted to do in my photos.

I have pride in who I am I understand that I am part of larger communities.
I can be focused and determined I am a very proud indigenous woman even though I am constantly being told I’m not really indigenous or I should be carful how I speak about my own culture because I don’t look like I’m apart of it. I was very focused on doing this project not because I had something to prove but because I connected on a spiritual level with the photos and themes I was seeing.

Collaboration

I know the group is working well together when I hear someone taking charge and stepping up to be a leader. I find when in a group setting and nobody is leading the group it’s kind of a mess everyone trying to figure out what needs to be done, the people in the group pare either unsure of what to do or 100% set in there way about what needs to be done and won’t compromise at all.

Creative thinking

Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are forcing my right brain (the creative side) to be in control, I do this by writing for 5 continues minutes and not stopping. Writing everything that comes to mind helps the ideas flow more freely and more frequent.

Positive Personal and Cultural Identity

Although I am challenged by not looking indigenous, I can get through these challenges by trying to ignore the comments I get that are racist.

In my psychology 12 class we have used social awareness, critical and relative thinking and collaborating.

We collaborated with other peers during our research project and acting out an axon.

We enhanced our social awareness by researching brain disorders helping us understand others problems.

We spend aa lot of class time debating our opinions making us develop and slim down our ideas into more relatively thinking.

Making And Sharing Reflection

For this Recipe we used only a cast iron frying pan, we mixed the batter in the pan and baked it in the pan. This cake has flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, brown sugar and apples. first we coated the pan in butter and flower then we added the batter ingredients and mixed till just combined. After that we cut the apples as thin as we can and played them out on top in a nice pattern. Lastly we baked it in the oven at 400 for 30 minuets. all of the ingredients used in this recipe are relatively affordable under 10$ each. This recipe took about 45-55 minutes to prepare. Our group worked together to create our designs for this cake; we where all good about making sure we listened to other peoples ideas.

in the kitchen I build understanding by watching videos and having discussions with my group. I communicate while cooking very directly if you sugar coat something someone might do something wrong and hurt themselves. when working with people I don’t know yet I try and start a conversation about something we have in common like the recipe, something that has happened in class or I ask them a question. I show that I value feedback by expressing what I think after receiving feedback.

Shakshuka and rustic bread

in this lab we talked together as a partner ship to check in to see if we are doing the right thing at every point in the lab. we split this between two people and sent picture with a descriptive text to our parents. working in pares for me is very easy but trying to collaborate with the other pare in the group is difficult for me.

the way I communicate while cooking is a lot more direct than real life, I get right to the point and don’t bother with any pleasantries.

My artifact

I I chose to reflect on our games project because it thought me how to be strategic and productive. We played uno for 6 weeks and after you play uno You start to lose interesting. While so you depend on the people you are playing with to make it interesting. While playing the game you need to be compassionate with the other players and be a good sport.You also need to be friendly while playing.

The technique I wanted to learn was flipping pancakes.  

I have done it before I just wanted to practice 

I made chocolate chip pancakes   

Don’t make your pancake too big and don’t flip it too soon  

I waited too long on one of the pancakes and it got a little over cooked  

Most of them where perfectly cooked with a good crispy rim.  

They tasted amazing, the pancake mix was perfect

Example:

You look in the freezer and see that you have a few almost empty bags of frozen veggies.  In the cupboard you find a bag of rice.  You decide to put all of those veggies together to make a stir fry, and google ‘stir fry sauces’ to find ideas for something tasty to put on top.
