Core Competency Self Assesment

I chose ” to prune my work ” as my writing goal because we had just finished learning what pruning was with ms wallet and I was still working on being good at it. when writing this paragrph I tried to stick to the outline and format correctly. I still struggle with spelling mainly because I try to write as fast as I can so if I just take some more time while writing it should get better. during this paragraph I was able to go back to it and edit and prune more then the first two.

during the first week of class we learned about shutter speed and aperture. I took this photo by having a low Sutter speed and a try pod so there would only be blur where the guy was moving. I chose this photo out of the many others I took that day because it not only follows the instructions given it also gives me a nostalgic feel.

I get new ideas or represent others ideas in novel ways.
I use my experiences with various steps and attempts to direct my future work this critique kind of changed the way I look at photography, before id look and just see a photo but while looking at this photo I saw the thought and steps gone into making it and going forward I was much more aware of the things I wanted to do in my photos.

I have pride in who I am I understand that I am part of larger communities.
I can be focused and determined I am a very proud indigenous woman even though I am constantly being told I’m not really indigenous or I should be carful how I speak about my own culture because I don’t look like I’m apart of it. I was very focused on doing this project not because I had something to prove but because I connected on a spiritual level with the photos and themes I was seeing.

Collaboration

I know the group is working well together when I hear someone taking charge and stepping up to be a leader. I find when in a group setting and nobody is leading the group it’s kind of a mess everyone trying to figure out what needs to be done, the people in the group pare either unsure of what to do or 100% set in there way about what needs to be done and won’t compromise at all.

Creative thinking

Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are forcing my right brain (the creative side) to be in control, I do this by writing for 5 continues minutes and not stopping. Writing everything that comes to mind helps the ideas flow more freely and more frequent.

Positive Personal and Cultural Identity

Although I am challenged by not looking indigenous, I can get through these challenges by trying to ignore the comments I get that are racist.

In my psychology 12 class we have used social awareness, critical and relative thinking and collaborating.

We collaborated with other peers during our research project and acting out an axon.

We enhanced our social awareness by researching brain disorders helping us understand others problems.

We spend aa lot of class time debating our opinions making us develop and slim down our ideas into more relatively thinking.
