A & P 12 Core Competency

This is a photo of the glucose tubing in the beaker full of solvent.

Communication CC

During the dialysis lab, communication played a great part in making the experiment successful. My partner and I had to work together to properly put in the glucose into the dialysis tubing and discuss different ways to make sure that the tubing was sealed properly so that it would not leak when it went into the beaker filled with water. As we were divided into two groups (starch group, glucose group), communication within the group was important to ensure that each person had the correct observations for the starch and glucose experiment. Sharing ideas and thoughts also played a big part as it led us to get a more accurate conclusion.

Thinking CC

I had to critically and reflectively think to conclude our experiment. Based on the observations that we’ve got, we had to answer questions of whether the starch/glucose was diffusible through dialysis tubing. There was some uncertain evidence that got me confused, but with discussing and looking back through the observations with my groupmates, I was able to get better response for the question. Sharing ideas within the group absolutely helped as we gave feedback to each other and kept building upon each other’s ideas until we got an answer like response. One part that I would like to improve for next time is to more carefully record observations.
