Lab 20C: Acid-Base Titration

Curricular Competency Explanation

Titration is neutralization using special techniques. Titration was used in this lab to determine the volume of NaOH used to be neutralized with HCl. The volume of the base and the acid were measured by using a burette and a pipet. The endpoint of a titration is known by observing the lightest shade of pink. The lightest shade of pink was observed when an average of 14.79+-1.4% of NaOH was used. By using Stoichiometry, we were able to calculate the morality of HCl which were 0.148M+-1.4%

Core Competency Self-Assessment: Communication

Throughout the lab, me and my partner showed communication and collaboration. We listed all the steps necessary for the lab. During the lab there were some confusing steps that we could not figure out, so we went to ask for help from the teacher. Collaboration was an important part of the lab. As it wasn’t an easy lab compared to those we did in the past, there were some parts that me and my partner struggled with. However, by sharing information, consistently asking and communicating we were able to get an accurate product. Each of us had different roles for the lab, and we changed roles for every new trial.
